Technical Service Bulletin
Note:
Replacing the control module for driver assistance systems (J1121) for the above-mentioned DTCs is not
effective.
Scenario 1: When there is one DTC logged for one of the overhead view cameras
1. Perform a bus sleep cycle on the vehicle.
2. If the DTC remains static, check the wiring harness between the control module for driver assist systems,
J1121 (address word 00A5), and the affected overhead view camera, (R243, R244, R245, or R246) for
loose/unplugged connectors, loose/pushed-back pins, corrosion or damage.
3. In the case that no visual cause can be found:
• Swap a new camera with the affected camera to rule out a faulty camera.
• Plug the video cable of another camera into the port of the affected camera on the control module for
driver assist systems, J1121 (address word 00A5) to rule out a faulty video cable. The connector housing
of the video cable has to be removed to complete this step.
Note:
Between each step of the checks, a bus sleep cycle is required to reinitialize the control module and
cameras.
Scenario 2: When there are several DTCs stored for the overhead view cameras
1. Due to deviations in the diagnostic capability of the control module for driver assist systems J1121 (address
word 00A5) an individual overhead view camera (e.g. faulty overhead view camera, a short circuit in the
video cable, water ingress, etc.) can lead to a partial or complete failure of the Topview camera system. All or
some of the above DTCs are logged
2. Proceed with the steps in Scenario 1 to identify the defect and repair it accordingly.
Scenario 3: When the picture is blurry
Replace the adapter wiring harness to the camera and the fogged-up overhead view camera.
