2020-2021 CX-30 with VINS lower than 3MVDM******240854 (produced before January 14, 2021)
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a knocking noise from the steering column while driving. This may be caused by an improper
manufacturing process where the worm wheel gear is not at a proper distance.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Replace the steering column with a modified one according to the instructions on MGSS (STEERING WHEEL AND
COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
3. Verify the repair.

NOTE: The part number of the steering column has not been changed for the modification. Identify modified steering
columns by the lot number on the steering column as follows.
Modified part (Service part of Steering Column):
• Lot Number (1) 11040001 or later.
The lot number is in YMDD**** format.
• Y: last digit of the production year (1: 2021, 2:2022)
• M: the production month (1: Jan., 2: Feb. … X: Oct.,
Y: Nov., Z: Dec.)
• DD: the production date
• ****: serial number
The location of the lot number label (2) is the upper side of the steering column.
NOTE: The steering columns installed in mass production DO NOT have the label in this location.
