CH and CX trucks built on or after January 8, 2001 were built with
harnesses that are compliant with the PLC4Trucks Specification.
PLC4Trucks (Power Line Carrier for Trucks) is mandatory on all tractors
beginning March 1, 2001. It enables the trailer ABS module to broadcast
ABS malfunctions to the trailer ABS Lamp located on the dash cluster
display.
The traditional ABS diagnostic switch with integrated fault lamp has been
removed from vehicles equipped with an electronic dash cluster. A
resistor (Part Number: 2MS218M) has been installed in the main cab
harness replacing the traditional ABS diagnostic switch with integrated
fault lamp. This provides a ‘dummy’ load, fooling the ABS Module into
thinking that the ABS Malfunction Lamp is electronically connected. The
root cause has been determined to be that: the resistor connector is
unplugged.
Ensure that the already supplied resistor (PN: 2MS218M) located in the
main cab harness is connected.
To find the resistor connectors in the harness, look in the area where the
VECU and ABS ECU connecting wires merge into the main harness. Red
tape around the harness will be found where these wires join the main
harness.
Wire 19-D-0.8 will protrude from the harness approximately 6 inches
from this red tape. Wire 19-A-0.8 should be in the same general area.
The resistor can be found inside the wiring harness loom.

