Today, February 26, 2016, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is announcing a product update for 29,146 model year 2016
Civic vehicles shipped with incorrect impact speed for bumper information on the Monroney labels. The vehicles are in
compliance; the Monroney label information is not.
Basic Problem
2016 model year Civic vehicles produced before January 12, 2016 have incorrect information related to the bumper
compliance test. The label is printed with a speed of 5 mph and should be written with correct speed of 2.5 mph. In
error, the 2015 Civic bumper impact speed rating was used for the 2016 Civic Monroney label.
The Repair
All vehicles affected with the error on the Monroney label in dealer stock shall receive an additional sticker to be placed
next to the Monroney label. The label identifies that it is updating the language on the Monroney label and then has
the correct language. Sold vehicles do not require any action and are ineligible for the Product Update.
Service Bulletin
Service bulletin 16-019, Product Update: 2016 Civic Monroney Label (Except Hawaii) has been posted to the Service
Information System today in support of this campaign. It includes repair procedure, warranty, and amendment sticker
information.
Parts/Label Information
There are no vehicle parts or materials associated with this product update. Your dealership Service Manager will
receive a package directly from American Honda Motor, Co., Inc. with stickers and a letter identifying by VIN the vehicles
affected in your dealer inventory. Check the VIN identified in the letter with your dealer new vehicle stock and adhere
stickers to unsold units ONLY. If needed, additional labels can be ordered through Helm Inc. Check the Service Bulletin
for Helm part number and order details.
