• Recall 130407 [USA]: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
  Tiffin motorhomes, inc. (tiffin) is recalling certain 2009-2018 allegro and allegro red, bus and phaeton vehicles, 2009-2010 bay vehicles, 2011-2018 breeze vehicles, and 2009-2015, and 2017-2018 zephyr vehicles. These motorhomes are equipped with kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. • Recall 117456 [USA]: Unstable entry and exit steps increase the risk of injury.
  Tiffin motorhomes (tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2007-2015 motorhomes manufactured may 1, 2007, to december 31, 2014, equipped with certain coachstep double and triple electric steps. The bolt that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps may fracture allowing the fan gear to disengage from the steps. As a result, the steps may not remain in the expected position and may become unstable.
  dealers will install a retainer bracket on the double step assemblies and the coachstep linkage assembly will be replaced and a retainer bracket will be installed on the trip step assemblies. • Recall 92557 [USA]: If the exhaust pipe in the engine compartment were to fail, the escaping exhaust gases could make the floor area above the engine extremely hot, increasing the risk of personal injury or possibly resulting in a fire.
  Tiffin motorhomes is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 allegro bus motorcoaches, manufactured from march 2010, through september 2012 and equipped with a cummins epa 2010 isl engine. Insufficient shielding between the exhaust pipe and floor may cause possible overheating of the floor above the engine compartment.

• Recall 92761 [USA]: An incorrect gear indication in the instrument panel may prevent the driver from knowing if they are in park or reverse, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Tiffin is recalling certain model year 2010 through 2012 allegro motorhomes built on ford f-53 and f-59 stripped chassis. The gear shift cable may break at the attachment to the transmission control selector arm assembly mounted on the steering column. If the cable breaks, the transmission gear indicator in the gear shift display in the instrument panel will remain in the first gear position regardless of the gear selected. 
  tiffin is working with ford to identify and notify owners of the affected motorhomes. Ford will replace the transmission selector arm assembly and the gear shift cable assembly, free of charge.   On certain motorhomes equipped with kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. • Recall 2017166 [Canada]: Structure
  On certain motorhomes, the frame rail extensions may not adequately support the trailer hitch mounting flange. Under certain loading, or heavy braking conditions the trailer hitch could possibly detach, which would result in the loss of the towed vehicle and/or trailer, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will install frame rail extension liner brackets and add gussets to the lower extension flanges to add structural support to the hitch.

  On certain motorhomes equipped with lippert components inc. Electric entry steps, an internal bolt on the steps that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps could fracture. This results in the fan gear disengaging from the steps, which could cause the steps to stop in an unexpected position and appear to be loose or unstable. If the steps become unstable, it could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: dealers will install a step retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism, and all bolts of the mechanism will also be replaced.

  On certain vehicles, the connector for the brake and cruise control signal diode jumper assembly may come loose, resulting in a possible intermittent or continuously open circuit. Two circuits are potentially affected. One circuit disengages the cruise control with brake pedal application, and the other circuit illuminates the brake lights with brake application. Failure of the cruise control to disengage, or of the brake lights to illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed, could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will verify that the locking tabs on the diode jumper assembly connector are fully engaged and locked into place.

  On certain motorhomes, the cable for the transmission range indicator "prnd321" on the instrument cluster may be damaged by a sharp edge on the shift lever arm. If the indicator cable is cut, the indicator will remain in the "1" position (first gear) regardless of what gear is actually selected. With no gear indication, the operator may inadvertently select an incorrect gear, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: ford dealers will replace the transmission selector arm and indicator assembly.

  On certain vehicles built on a freightliner xbr chassis, a rubber-coated braided power steering hose may have inadequate clearance to the starter power stud due to incorrect routing. This could cause the power steering hose to rub against the stud on the starter motor, which could cause an electrical arc and a power steering fluid leak. A power steering leak in the presence of an electrical arc could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. A power steering fluid leak could also require additional steering effort which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: daimler trucks of north america service facilities will reroute the power steering hose to ensure proper clearance to starter stud.

[xxx]--i was towing a vehicle behind a tiffin motor home. A tow bar attaches the towed vehicle to the motor home tow hitch. The tow bar began to sag while driving on a highway. The tow hitch is welded to a tiffin installed frame, that is welded to the vehicle chassis. The tiffin installed frame cracked and separated, causing the hitch and tow bar to sag. The tow hitch is attached to the frame with three bolts on each side. The cracks had extended past the rear bolts and center bolts on each side. Had the cracks continued to the third bolt, the tow hitch, tow bar, safety cables, and towed vehicle would have separated from the vehicle. The bolts used to attach the hitch to the frame were approximately 1/4" smaller than the diameter of bolt holes. There is evidence of friction, heat, and distortion of the washers. The hitch has only been used to tow a vehicle weighing less than the rating of the tow hitch. The hitch has never been used to tow a vehicle or trailer with a tongue weight. Shortly after engine start and during or shortly after warm-up, when accelerating from a stop, the engine loses all power. If you hold the accelerator pedal in one position, it will remain at idle. If you pump the accelerator pedal or push to the floor, it will catch up and accelerate. It will not do it again in that drive cycle. It does not do it every time. It has done it approximately 6 times. All under the exact same circumstances. There are no dtc's stored. It has only happened when pulling out into traffic. I will not pull into traffic without traffic control device now unless it is a right turn only. This is extremely dangerous since it will not accelerate up to speed and could cause an accident if it fails to accelerate in traffic. *tr

Letter from senator feinstein on behalf of constituent who believes a recall and replacement of the plastic fan/blower in recreational vehicles is necessary to protect the public from hazardous conditions; attn: meena visvanathan. *smd the consumer stated the propane furnace produced a rattling noise and it gradually became louder, as if something were loose in the furnace. There was also a unique odor, as if something were burning. Every time the suburban propane furnace was in use, the noise became louder, and the odor became worse. A service technician inspected the furnace and found a broken blower fan with parts of the fan on the fire box of the propane furnace. The blower fan was made of plastic and broke during normal operating conditions.

Extreme amount of sway. Twisty roads have to be under posted speed limit. Freeway travel is affected by wind, semi's and other high profile vehicles. Many times i have been forced off of the road on to the shoulder of the road. Complained to tiffin motors and was told to get a better set of shock absorbers. Complained to lamesa rv san diego and they just left by rig on their lot for a week. Said they could find no fault. Talk to roadmaster (suspension specialists) and they said i should put an auxiliary anti-sway bar 1 3/4" next to the one ford put on. Ford knows they have a problem as mystripped chassis came with front and rear anti-sway bars plus a heavy duty front track bar.(i have the original f550 order) solution: roadmaster auxiliary anti-sway bar. No more sway on my rig. $1109.00. *tr
