• Recall 130425 [USA]: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
  Tiffin motorhomes, inc. (tiffin) is recalling certain 2009-2018 allegro and allegro red, bus and phaeton vehicles, 2009-2010 bay vehicles, 2011-2018 breeze vehicles, and 2009-2015, and 2017-2018 zephyr vehicles. These motorhomes are equipped with kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. • Recall 124360 [USA]: If the hitch is loaded to the weight on sticker, the hitch may fail and the towed vehicle can separate from the motorhome, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Tiffin motorhomes, inc. (tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 allegro open road motorhomes manufactured april 1, 2015, to september 16, 2016. The affected vehicles have a tow hitch with a weight capacity sticker that may indicate an incorrect weight capacity.

• Recall 117541 [USA]: The steering wheel's connection to the front axle could fail resulting in a sudden loss of steering ability, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Tiffin motorhomes is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 allegro phaeton and 2015-2016 allegro bus trucks manufactured october 1, 2014 to august 1, 2015, equipped with certain zf rl77 / 80em independent front steering axles equipped with bosch 8018 steering boxes. The boxes were manufactured using incorrect internal spacers that can cause premature wear in the connection between the steering wheel and the front axle.

• Recall 117469 [USA]: Unstable entry and exit steps increase the risk of injury.
  Tiffin motorhomes (tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2007-2015 motorhomes manufactured may 1, 2007, to december 31, 2014, equipped with certain coachstep double and triple electric steps. The bolt that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps may fracture allowing the fan gear to disengage from the steps. As a result, the steps may not remain in the expected position and may become unstable.
  dealers will install a retainer bracket on the double step assemblies and the coachstep linkage assembly will be replaced and a retainer bracket will be installed on the trip step assemblies. • Recall 110037 [USA]: If the slide-out opens during transit, there is an increased risk of a vehicle crash.
  Tiffin motorhomes, inc.(tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2015 allegro red 36 qsa, allegro red 38 qba, phaeton 40 qbh, and phaeton 40 qkh motorhomes manufactured april 22, 2014, to may 8, 2015. In the affected vehicles, moisture may enter the slide-out controller and cause the "switch out" connection to short, and cause the motorhome slide-out section to extend while the motorhome is moving.

• Recall 106623 [USA]: If the motorhome is loaded to the incorrect specifications listed on the label, tire failure may result, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Tiffin motorhomes, inc. (tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 allegro bus 45 foot lp, 37 foot, and 40 foot motorhomes. In the affected vehicles, the federal certification label incorrectly states the front gross axle weight rating (gawr). As such, the vehicles do not conform to part 567, "certification."

  On certain motorhomes, the frame rail extensions may not adequately support the trailer hitch mounting flange. Under certain loading, or heavy braking conditions the trailer hitch could possibly detach, which would result in the loss of the towed vehicle and/or trailer, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will install frame rail extension liner brackets and add gussets to the lower extension flanges to add structural support to the hitch.

This could cause the mounting bolts to bend or become loose, which could result in the sway bar possibly detaching, which could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.   On certain motorhomes equipped with lippert components inc. Electric entry steps, an internal bolt on the steps that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps could fracture. This results in the fan gear disengaging from the steps, which could cause the steps to stop in an unexpected position and appear to be loose or unstable. If the steps become unstable, it could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: dealers will install a step retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism, and all bolts of the mechanism will also be replaced.

  On certain motorhomes equipped with a heavier weight adjustable offset foot pedal, the brake activation signal to the motorhome’s brake lights and to certain towed devices may not deactivate when the motorhome service brakes are released. This may cause the motorhome brake lights to potentially remain illuminated, which would result in the following road users being unaware of the driver's intentions. Additionally, if the brakes of a towed vehicle were to remained engaged, it could result in a loss of vehicle control. Both of these conditions could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Daimler trucks north america authorized service facilities will replace the torsion spring of the pedal assembly with an improved spring.

• Recall 2014576 [Canada]: Label
  On certain vehicles, the compliance label does not contain the correct gross axle weight rating (gawr) for the front axle. The label incorrectly indicates a gvwr of 17,000 lbs on 45 foot buses and 16,600 lbs on on 37 and 40 foot buses. The correct gawr would be 16,000 lbs and 15,000 lbs, respectively. Incorrect gawr could cause the vehicle to be overloaded, which would result in poor vehicles handling characteristics, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: updated labels will be mailed to owners of affected vehicles, along with instructions for proper installation.

This is not a single isolated incident. There have been a large number of owners with this issue and the manufacturer has not provided an acceptable solution. *dt on the 2015-2018 tiffin allegro bus on the power glide chassis, a critical design defect exists with the engine fan drive tensioner bracket and tensioner pulley assembly. The fan drive is designed to engage at a pre-determined engine coolant temperature and is utilized to lower engine temperature as the engine coolant temperature reaches a high level. The tensioner bracket is constructed from heavy gauge steel plate that is welded together and the tensioner pulley assembly is a cast/machined aluminum assembly. The assembly weighs over 20 pounds. As designed, the fan drive tensioner assembly cannot sufficiently handle the torque and vibration generated when the fan drive engages. The tensioner bracket and pulley develops micro-cracks that quickly deteriorate into major cracks in the steel bracket and tensioner pulley causing a sudden total failure of the bracket, which in a worse case situation, results in the bracket breaking into several pieces and becoming discharged from the rear of the motorhome at highway speeds. When the bracket fails, the engine fan drive is inoperable, and the motorhome operator experiences a rapid increase in engine temperature and the engine shuts down, possibly causing a loss of vehicle control.. Should the fan drive tensioner and tensioner bracket become dislodged from the motorhome engine compartment, it could strike another vehicle or person causing severe damage, injury, or possible death. To date the manufacturer has been unable to design/provide a fan drive tensioner assembly that will withstand the torque and vibration being generated.
