SB-10049800-1137 BULLETIN NUMBER 34-045 IMAGE SECTION Wiring and Lighting - 34 SUBJECT ESA for 2013 QV Chassis RELEASE DATE 09/14/2012 CONDITION Current version ESA 4.1.0.17 will not function properly and may corrupt engine settings if employed on the 14 prototype 2013 emissions compliant chassis listed. Do not connect ESA 4.1 to these chassis. A special version of ESA may be required for the listed chassis and this bulletin will be updated with appropriate instruction if/when such version is available. The next standard ESA update, scheduled for November 2012, will accommodate listed chassis, regardless of whether an interim version developed. CHASSIS AFFECTED 14 T270s, T370s, T470s, T660s, T800s and W900s built between 05/10/12 – 08/25/12, listed below. These chassis are also identified in SIR with campaign code 34-045. (See the Action section for more information about the campaign code.) ACTION Campaign code 34-045 does not indicate that a repair is necessary. This campaign code is listed in SIR to call dealer attention to the special condition for listed chassis. Do not connect ESA 4.1 to chassis listed. If this restriction creates a repair problem, contact the Engine Support Group or your District Service Manager as appropriate. This bulletin will be updated when ESA becomes available and campaign code 34-045 will be removed from SIR when standard ESA may be employed with these chassis. WARRANTY Standard warranty applies. This bulletin is for information only. BACKGROUND When new platform vehicles are developed, Kenworth normally builds a small number of these to evaluate design implementation, manufacturing systems, parts inventory programs, service and other considerations. These prototype vehicles are identified as Quality Validation or “QV” chassis. The vehicles listed are QV for implementation of 2013 emissions standards and as such require special consideration until all support systems are in place for standard production of the same design, in this instance, implementation of 2013 ESA software.
