Introduction
This information will assist in detecting problems with programming keyless entry. If a problem is
found, correct the condition and verify that the problem is resolved.
Transmitter Synchronization
The transmitter may need to be re-synchronized to the truck receiver when the battery is replaced or
when the transmitter has not been used for an extended time. If the transmitter fails to operate under
one of these situations, the transmitter needs synchronized by doing the following:
1. Hold the transmitter near the truck
2. Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for approximately 7
seconds.
3. When the transmitter is synchronized, the door locks will cycle once.
Note: If the transmitter fails to synchronize, reprogramming of the transmitters may be necessary.
Refer to Programming Additional Transmitters.
Programming Additional Transmitters
Note: The vehicle system module has four memory slots or locations which allow up to four remote
transmitters. All four locations do not have to have a transmitter programmed. For proper operation

all transmitters must be programmed at the same time. If a new transmitter is being added to an
existing vehicle module, all the original transmitters must also be reprogrammed in the same
programming session or the transmitters will not work.
Note: The following steps must be performed in exact sequence.
1. Set the vehicle parking brake.
2. Turn the truck ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Locate the programming connectors #1 and #2 at the top right of the fuse block.

4. Fuse block will have to be removed to retrieve the wires the first time.
5. Connect programming connector #1 with programming connector #2.
6. When first connected, the door locks will cycle. Keep the programming connectors connected
throughout the programming process.
7. Press and hold "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" at the same time on the new transmitter(s}. After 1215 seconds, the locks will cycle and the horn will beep one time. If additional transmitters are to
be programmed, repeat Step 7 on each transmitter to be programmed.
8. Disconnect programming connectors.
9. Test the remote transmitter(s} for proper operation.
