NOTE: If CVT fluid is leaking from any other location, this bulletin does not apply. Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for further Diagnosis. ACTION: If CVT fluid is leaking, please refer to the flow chart on page 3 to determine the correct ACTION. IMPORTANT: The purpose of "ACTION" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/6 PARTS INFORMATION DESCRIPTION HOSE-AUTO TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER (main hose) CLAMP-HOSE (spring clamp) CLAMP-HOSE (double wire clamp) PART # QUANTITY 21631-3KA0B 1 01558-00751 01555-00801 2 1 RADIATOR ASSY 21460-3JA0E CVT (1) (1) Reference the electronic parts catalog (FAST) for applicable part number. * Refer to Service Procedure to confirm if required. 1 1* CLAIMS INFORMATION Submit a Primary Part (PP) type line claim using the following claims coding: OPERATION OP CODE PFP SYM DIA Replace Radiator CD10AA Replace Oil Cooler Pipe CB16AA 21631-3KA0A ZE 32 FRT (1) (1) Reference the current Nissan Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the indicated flat rate time. Replace the: • CVT • Radiator And • Parts listed in Parts Information table. Proceed to Step 2 of SERVICE PROCEDURE Proceed to Step 1 of SERVICE PROCEDURE 3/6 NTB13-071 SERVICE PROCEDURE Write down customer’s radio station presets (presets may be lost during this procedure). Presets A B C SAT 1 2 3 4 5 6 1. If the “CVT to radiator” transmission cooler hose was detached from the radiator while the vehicle was being driven: • • Replace the CVT and then proceed to step 2. If the “CVT to radiator” transmission cooler hose was not detached while driving, do not replace the CVT and proceed to step 2. NOTE: Refer to: • The appropriate section of the ESM for the procedure to remove and reinstall the CVT. • Additional services for CVT replacement. “D: TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE / TM-Transaxle & Transmission / CVT: RE0F10E / BASIC INSPECTION / ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REPLACING TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY”. 2. Replace the radiator. NOTE: Refer to the appropriate section of the ESM for the procedure to remove and reinstall the radiator. 3. Re-attach the engine coolant hoses to the new radiator, and only the “auxiliary cooler to radiator hose” (CVT Fluid Cooler Hose C). • Leave the “transmission to radiator cooler hose” loose at this time (CVT Fluid Cooler Hose A/B Assembly, Figure 1). 4. On the CVT, slide the “transmission to radiator cooler hose” spring clamp back onto the hose, away from the fitting, and then remove the hose from the fitting (Figure 2). • Disconnect the two hose support clips to radiator fan shroud. • Discard this hose and related clamps. They will be replaced with the parts from the PARTS INFORMATION table. Leave this hose loose. It will be replaced. Figure 1 Fitting and hose capped Leave old spring clamp on hose Figure 2 4/6 NTB13-071 5. Slide two clamps onto the radiator side (Figure 3), and then one spring clamp onto the CVT side (Figure 4) cooler line fittings. • On the radiator side a double wire clamp is installed first, followed by a spring clamp. Picture taken with radiator out of vehicle for reference Place one new spring clamp on CVT outlet Double wire clamp first Figure 3 Figure 4 6. Clean the outer surfaces of both the radiator and the CVT fittings with an alcohol wipe from the Squeak and Rattle Kit (or Nissan brake cleaner 999MP-A3042P). 7. Install the new hose from the PARTS INFORMATION table onto the CVT and radiator fittings and re-attach the two hose support clips to radiator fan shroud. NOTE: Refer to “D: TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE / TM-Transaxle & Transmission / CVT: RE0F10E / REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION / CVT FLUID COOLER SYSTEM” for correct positioning of cooler hoses onto fittings. 8. Position the spring clamps at the CVT and radiator cooler (Figures 5 and 6) as close to the fitting bulge as possible, and then release them. NOTE: Confirm that the clamps are not on top of the fitting bulge or on an angle. Correct position Bulge indicating fitting barb Figure 5 Figure 6 5/6 NTB13-071 Positioned next to spring clamp 9. Position the double wire clamp next to the spring clamp, and then tighten the screw all the way down (Zero Gap). • Make sure the clamp is on the straight portion of the fitting and not on the bend. Do not position on fitting bend Zero gap Figure 7 10. Check CVT fluid level and add as needed. 11. Reset the customer’s radio presets. 12. Test drive the vehicle for proper operation and recheck the CVT cooler hose connections for any leaks. 6/6 NTB13-071
