Background
American Honda (AHM) is investigating 2003-2004 Odysseys & certain 2003 Accords (VINs that start with 1HG or 3HG)
with a complaint of front airbag deployment in non-collision situation with DTC 51-XX through 56-XX (Internal Failure of
SRS Unit) stored. In addition, this could include a complaint of a non-collision airbag deployment causing a collision after
the airbag deployed. To evaluate the cause of the non-collision airbag deployment, AHM would like to collect specific
parts from the vehicle prior to you attempting a repair of any kind.
Qualifiers
AHM is interested ONLY if the vehicle meets the following requirements:
1. Vehicle is a 2003-2004 Odyssey or a 2003 Accord with a VIN that starts with 1HG or 3HG.
2. Complaint of the front airbag deployment in non-collision situation.
3. One or more of the following SRS Internal Failure DTCs must be stored;
a) 51-XX
b) 52-XX
c) 53-XX
d) 54-XX
e) 55-XX
f)
56-XX
4. The following deployment DTCs should not be stored, except when the customer has a complaint of a noncollision airbag deployment contributed to collision after the airbag deployed.
a) DX-XX
b) EX-XX
c) FX-XX
