Dear Mitsubishi Owner,
Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. has determined that due to variations in production,
certain exhaust manifold mounted catalytic converters may experience catalyst layer separation
on affected vehicles. If this occurs, the vehicle’s on board diagnostic software (OBDII) will
illuminate the “Service Engine Soon” or “Check Engine Light” indicator.
To ensure your continued satisfaction with your vehicle, Mitsubishi is extending the warranty for
the exhaust manifold mounted catalytic converters on your vehicle from the current 8 years /
80,000 miles to 10 years / 120,000 miles, whichever comes first.
If you already had an exhaust manifold mounted catalytic converter replaced on your vehicle and
paid for the repair, you may send your original receipts and/or other adequate proof of payment to
the following address for reimbursement consideration:

PURPOSE
Due to variations in production, certain exhaust manifold mounted catalytic converters may experience
catalyst layer separation on affected vehicles. If this occurs, the MIL will illuminate with DTC P0421 or
P0431, “Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold” stored in the PCM.
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. is extending the catalytic converter warranty only on affected
vehicles currently registered in certain states (see section below) from 8 years / 80,000 miles to
10 years / 120,000 miles. Please refer to Warranty Bulletin WB 2014−011 for additional details.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Fields marked with a “X” indicates the warranty extension applies to that specific model
currently registered in the listed state. (Also check the MDL Superscreen. All affected vehicles
will be identified on the MDL Superscreen.)
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
A letter will be sent to all owners of affected vehicles currently registered in the states of California,
Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island informing them of the
warranty extension. A copy of the customer notification letter appears at the end of this bulletin.
PROCEDURE
If an exhaust manifold mounted catalytic converter requires replacement, only replace the
necessary side. Follow the service manual procedure in Group 15 of the applicable service manual
for catalytic converter replacement.
IMPORTANT
IF DTC P0421 OR P0431 IS STORED IN THE PCM AND THE AFFECTED VEHICLE IS A 2006
ECLIPSE V6, ENSURE THE PCM HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED PER EMISSIONS RECALL
BULLETIN EMR−06−002. IF EMR−06−002 HAS NOT BEEN PERFORMED, PLEASE REPROGRAM THE PCM BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THIS REPAIR.
CHECK ON THE WARRANTY SUPERSCREEN TO VERIFY THAT EMR−06−002 HAS BEEN
PERFORMED OR INSPECT THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE’S HOOD FOR THE ENGINE
COMPARTMENT / CONTROL MODULE LABEL AND CONFIRM “EMR−06−002” IS LISTED
ALONG WITH THE APPROPRIATE ROM ID#, 1860A220HD FOR A/T EQUIPPED VEHICLES,
OR 1860A219HH FOR M/T EQUIPPED VEHICLES.
