This activity involves inspecting and potentially replacing the driver’s airbag inflator assembly. Today, January 22, 2014, American Honda is announcing an expansion to this activity to include a small number of 2003 and 2004 Civic vehicles. Customer approval must be obtained prior to any parts replacement related to this activity. Please ensure your dealership obtains approval from the vehicle owner before beginning any parts collection procedures. Eligible vehicles can be identified through VIN status inquiry. Repair, parts and warranty procedures are outlined in S/B 13-099. Please note that driver’s airbag inflators are controlled parts, and must be ordered accordingly. To minimize customer inconvenience, it may be necessary to request overnight shipping if the part is not available at your facing parts center. Once a sufficient number of parts have been collected, American Honda will cancel this activity, and vehicles will no longer show as eligible through VIN inquiry. Please be sure to verify a vehicle’s eligibility prior to starting any work or ordering any parts. American Honda asks that dealers who identify eligible vehicles and obtain customer approval process the related claims quickly, and follow all parts return procedures outlined in the service bulletin.
