Adaptive Forward Lighting Service Message Displayed on DIC, DTC B257C or
B257D Set
Models:
2014 Buick LaCrosse
Equipped with Adaptive Forward Lighting (RPO TF4)
Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment on a AFL (Adaptive Forward Lighting) Lamps Need Service message being
displayed on the DIC. This condition may be intermittent and occurs on initial start up in cold ambient temperatures.
When checking the vehicle for DTCs, U1531 or U1532 may be set in history. In some cases, B257C, B257D or
U1501 may also be set in history.
Recommendation/Instructions
An updated software calibration has been released to address this concern. Reprogram the headlamp control
module (HCM) using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest calibrations available on TIS2WEB.
Reprogram the module if any of the codes listed are in history, even if the vehicle is not currently exhibiting the
condition. Refer to the Headlamp Control Module Programming and Setup procedure in SI.
