This new clutch design utilizes a waffle pattern in the disc surface that allows fluid to flow more efficiently across the disc. This allows heat to dissipate more effectively, improving transmission durability. 14-003A DUONIC™ Shift Quality Recovery Procedure When a Canter arrives at your dealership with a complaint of shift quality, perform the Shift Quality Recovery Procedure before proceeding with further diagnosis. 14-004 Waffle Clutch-equipped DUONIC™ Transmission ECU Reprogramming and Initialization All Canter vehicles built after August 1, 2013 are produced with a DUONIC™ transmission incorporating this new clutch design. When installing a waffle clutch equipped DUONIC™ transmission in earlier Canters, it is imperative to download correct software for correct application pressure. Failure to apply correct software will result in premature clutch failure. Such failures will not be covered by warranty! A & B Codes • The Warranty Department has updated the A & B Code list and it is available on Fusonet to view or print. • Go to: Warranty> Publications> Warranty Forms Printable to access. • To avoid delaying payment of claims, please use proper coding. Warranty will place claims on hold if the A & B codes do not support the claim properly. Did you know? Quick tips… • Fuso Diagnostics Software Update FDS-R13-1.2 (06EXX0021-2) was mailed to each dealer the week of February 24. Be sure to update your laptop as soon as you receive the update in order to properly communicate with all Canter trucks and to be able to perform upcoming enhancements to customers’ vehicles! We suggest copying the DVD to a flash drive, and using the flash drive to update the laptop, to avoid installation errors due to dirty or faulty DVD drives. The software is very sensitive and may crash if the DVD drive hesitates. March 26, 2014 Volume No. 2, Issue No. 3 Important DUONIC Notes 1. C1006610 ATF Contamination Recall In order to ensure that maintenance intervals remain intact, the fluid in the gear box (rear portion of the transmission assembly) will be replaced during the flushing procedure. In essence, this campaign becomes a free transmission service for your customer. 2. Flushing Facts It is not necessary to flush the clutch housing more than the prescribed number of times outlined in the recall and SIB 13-003A. Both the Safety Recall (C1006610) and the DUONIC Shift Recovery Procedure (SIB 14-003A) may force substantial quantities of metal contamination into the transmission oil pan. This flushed debris must be removed from the assembly to prevent it from clogging the transmission filter. The micron rating of the filter is more than sufficient to protect the transmission from the microscopic materials that give the ATF a silvery sheen. This sheen does not indicate the need for additional flushes or of an imminent failure. 3.
