SECTION: 417-01 Adaptive Front Lighting System Warning Icon Displayed AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE: XK Range (X150) Model Year: 2008-2012 VIN: B20075-B44934 MARKETS: NAS CONDITION SUMMARY: Situation: The Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) warning icon may be displayed (permanently or intermittently) in the Instrument Cluster. Cause: This may be caused by the headlamps being in failsafe mode and cannot be reset due to Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) B1D64-01, B1D65-01, B1D68-01, and/or B1D69-01 stored in the AFS Headlamp Leveling Control Module (HLCM). Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction outlined below. PARTS: C2P23697 Headlamp Leveling Control Module Quantity: 1 TOOLS: NOTE: This is an 'Active Bulletin' that will display a functional programming shortcut if accessed within a diagnostic session using SDD. SDD with latest DVD and Calibration File; first available on DVD137.00 v.162 Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply WARRANTY: NOTE: Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Always refer to TOPIx to obtain the latest repair time. NOTE: DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero. DESCRIPTION SRO TIME (HOURS) CONDITION CODE CAUSAL PART Headlamp Leveling Control Module - Renew 86.42.17 0.5 42 C2P23697 Headlamp Leveling Control Module - Configure new module 86.99.38 0.2 42 C2P23697 http://topix.jaguar.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/486031 7/7/2014 Page 2 of 2 NOTE: Normal Warranty policies and procedures apply. SERVICE INSTRUCTION: CAUTION: A Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during SDD diagnosis / module programming. CAUTION: Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the vehicle. NOTE: SDD must be loaded with DVD137.00 v.162 or later. 1. Install a new Headlamp Leveling Control Module (see TOPIX Workshop Manual, section 417-01). 2. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the vehicle battery. 3. Turn ignition 'ON' (engine not running). 4. Connect the Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) system to the vehicle and begin a new session. 5. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle and initiating the data collect sequence. 6. Select 'Service Functions' from the Session Type screen. 7. Select 'continue'. 8. Select the 'Recommendations' tab, and then select 'Run' to perform the 'Configure new module – Headlamp control module' option. 9. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task. 10. Exit the current session. 11.
