CSC-10057518-2430 February 2015 Technical Service Bulletin Notification TSB #15-002 Dear Valued Jayco RV Dealer: Jayco has determined certain Model Year 2015 Seismic 4212 Fifth Wheels (9G) require removal of the microwave to reposition the vent fan to provide proper venting. Our records indicate that the following Seismic Fifth Wheel/s are currently stock at your dealership and are included in this Bulletin: The coverage period for this Technical Service Bulletin is for one (1) year from the release of this notification. (February 2015- February 2016). If you have sold this affected vehicle, please contact the current owner regarding this Service Bulletin and process the Warranty Registration for this customer. All pertinent information regarding this Bulletin is on file under the Service and Parts Tab of Jayco Partners. Our records indicate that your Recreational Vehicle is affected by this service bulletin. Please contact your nearest Jayco dealer to schedule an appointment and present this letter as authorization to have the procedure completed. This procedure will be performed at no cost to you. The coverage period for this Technical Service Bulletin is for one (1) year from the release of this notification. ACTION REQUIRED: Reverse the microwave fan from venting to the rear to the front of the microwave. MODELS / UNITS: 2015 Seismic TOOLS/MATERIAL REQ.: 4212 F19G 0050-0053, 0057, 0060, 0061, 0063, 0064 Drill driver with #3 phillips bit Ladder Flat blade screwdriver or prying tool Pin Nailer Gun INSTRUCTIONS Remove this piece only Fig 1 1 Fig 2 Fig 1: Microwave is attached to the kitchen cabinet and must be taken down to perform the repair. Unplug the microwave from the wall. Fig 2: Remove only the short piece of wood trim under the microwave Use a flat blade screwdriver or prying tool to gently remove the trim from the wall. Fig 3: Remove the 2 bolts located inside the cabinets above the microwave using the #3 phillips bit and screw gun. CAUTION: THE MICROWAVE WILL FALL FORWARD AS THE BOLTS ARE REMOVED. HAVE A SECOND PERSON SUPPORT THE FRONT AS THE BOLTS ARE LOOSENED / REMOVED. Vent bezel Fan motor location Fig 4 2. One bolt inside each cabinet Fig 3 Bracket at the rear of microwave Fig 5 Fig 6 push up to release Fig 4: To remove microwave, lift it off the bracket mounted to the wall at the rear of the microwave. (The bracket tabs fit into slots in the microwave case.) Fig 5: Set microwave on a table or counter, protecting the surface prior to placing. Position the microwave with the rear of the unit facing you. Fig 6: Remove the vent bezel from the rear of the microwave. Remove the Phillips Screws in the motor cover shown in Fig 7 (2 black, 2 silver) Fig 8: Open the hinged motor cover. Harness in the center Rotate Fig 9 4. Fig 10 Fig 11 Fig 9: Lift the motor assembly out of the cavity. Rotate the motor assembly to the right, 180° so the white fan cage is on the other side and facing the front of the microwave. NOTE: The pink label on top of the motor assembly is still on top after rotating the motor. Fig 10: The motor wire harness should stay in the middle of the motor assy and should be carefully tucked away as shown (Fig 11). vent holes will now be blocked Fig 12 5. Fig 12: Re-install the motor assembly into the motor cavity. Fig 13: The rear vent holes will now be blocked off, and the air will blow toward the front of the microwave. Fig 14: Close the motor access cover. Fig 15 6. Fig 14 Fig 13 Fig 16 Fig 17 Fig 15: Re-install 4 screws (arrows) on motor access cover. Fig 16: Re-install the vent bezel on the rear of the microwave. Fig 17: Re-install the microwave on the wall bracket making sure the tabs (arrows) in the bracket go into the slots on the microwave. Have a second person hold the front of the microwave and re-install the two bolts in the upper cabinets. Re-install the piece of wood molding under the microwave using the pin nailer gun. Test to confirm the air is coming out the front vents of the microwave by placing a cup of water in microwave and activating. 15-002 Microwave Venting February 2015 2 of 2
