Model(s) Year VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment A4, A5, A8, Q3, Q5 2013 - 2016 All Rearview camera Q7 2013 - 2015 All Rearview camera Condition • The customer complains that the rearview camera image is not displayed on the MMI display. • DTC 02203 (audio/video input 1) is logged in the rearview camera system control module, J772 (address word 6C) with one of the following fault symptoms: • 11 open circuit • 8 implausible signal Technical Background An issue with the wiring harness may cause the condition. Technical Service Bulletin Service 1. Before proceeding, confirm that the DTC and one of the fault symptoms listed in the Condition are logged in the rearview camera system control module, J772 (address word 6C). If the DTC is not listed with one of the fault symptoms, this bulletin does not apply. 2. Check the wiring of the R189 reverse camera at connector T2az and T1y (Figure 1). Repair any loose connectors or pins, corrosion, or any other physical damage. Figure 1. Check the wiring of the R189 reverse camera at connector T2az and T1y. 3. After the wiring has been checked and repaired, try to reproduce the condition: • If the rearview camera image still is not displayed on the MMI display, but no cause related to the wiring was found, replace the camera. • If the rearview camera image is correctly displayed on the MMI display, do not replace the camera.
