When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns. DESCRIPTION: This bulletin describes the procedure for updating the Bluetooth and Voice Recognition software for certain 2013 Model Year Navigation and Audio systems. This update expands phone compatibility, improves Bluetooth connection, improves voice recognition and fixes the transfer of an active phone call after 14 minutes and 59 seconds from the Radio to the handset (private mode). Circulate To: General Manager, Service Manager, Parts Manager, Warranty Manager, Service Advisors, Technicians, Body Shop Manager, Fleet Repair 0.3 M/H SUBJECT: BLUETOOTH AND VOICE RECOGNITION UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TX5) PARTS INFORMATION: Parts Description Part 13MY VDS SW UPDATE P/N Remarks 96160-13VDS Update USB for certain 13MY vehicles. Two USB sticks have been sent to the dealership. Additional Update Media Device can be purchased through the PDC. Service Procedure: Tucson (LM) and Elantra (ALL) [One Knob] Non Navigation Bluetooth and Voice Recognition Software Update Note: The Elantra [One Knob] and the Tucson (Non Navigation) uses the exact same procedures for updates. Example steps in this section will demonstrate only one of the systems but can be applied to both vehicles. Tucson 1. Elantra (One Knob) Start the vehicle by using the key (B), or with the Start Stop Button (A). A NOTICE To start the vehicle using the Start/Stop Button, depress the brake and push the Start/Stop Button (A) once. After the vehicle has been started, insert the USB update stick into vehicle USB port (C) and allow the music on the USB to play for greater than four seconds. NOTICE C Before conducting the update, verify the current software version using step (4) below. 3. Before checking the Software version turn the radio OFF by pressing the power button (D) once. D 4. With the radio OFF, press and hold both the preset button [1] and [4] simultaneously for 3 seconds. Next release both buttons then tap button [1] four times. 1 4 NOTICE If the menu is not shown, turn the radio ON then OFF, then repeat step (4). TSB #: 15-01-024 Page 3 of 19 SUBJECT: 5. BLUETOOTH AND VOICE RECOGNITION UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TX5) If the current S/W version is not V4.00.USA or higher end Tucson update procedure here. Software update is not possible. NOTICE Tucson update requires a minimum previous/current version V4.00 to start/complete the update. If the version is acceptable proceed to step (6). 6. With the radio OFF, press and hold both the preset button [1] and [4] simultaneously for 3 seconds. Next release both buttons then tap button [1] four times. 7a. 1 4 Next press preset button [1] when the version information screen (E) is displayed. E 7b. Press preset button [4] Micom to start the update. NOTICE Do not interrupt the update while in progress. Any interruptions like ignition OFF or USB removal can result in the head unit being permanently disabled. NOTICE If the audio unit does not turn off within 5 seconds of resetting, the update has failed. Retry update using steps from 6 to 8. 9. Update version confirmation. With the radio OFF, press and hold both the preset button [1] and [4] simultaneously for 3 seconds. Next release both buttons then tap button [1] four times. 1 4 NOTICE See step (10) for Tucson version. See step (11) for Elantra version. 10. Updated Tucson S/W version should now be: V7.01.USA 11. Updated Elantra S/W version should now be: V8.00.USA TSB #: 15-01-024 Page 5 of 19 SUBJECT: BLUETOOTH AND VOICE RECOGNITION UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TX5) Service Procedure: Sonata (YFa), Elantra (ALL) [Two Knob] and Santa Fe Sport (AN) Non Navigation Bluetooth and Voice Recognition Software Update Note: The Sonata (YFa), the Elantra (ALL) [Two Knob] and the Santa Fe Sport (AN Non Navigation) uses the exact same procedures for updates. Example steps in this section will demonstrate only one of the systems but can be applied to both vehicles. 1. Sonata (YFa) Non Navigation Bluetooth and Voice Recognition Update. 2. Start the vehicle by using the key (B), or with the Start Stop Button (A). A NOTICE To start the vehicle using the Start/Stop Button, depress the brake and push the Start/Stop Button (A) once. B 3. After the vehicle has been started, insert the USB update stick into vehicle USB port (C) and allow the music on the USB to play for greater than four seconds. C NOTICE Before conducting the update, verify the current software version using step (4) below. With the radio OFF, press and hold both the preset button [1] and [4] simultaneously for 3 seconds. Next release both buttons then tap preset button [1] four times. 1 NOTICE If the menu is not shown, turn the radio ON, then OFF and repeat this step. 5. If the VR_US version is 170013 or higher do not attempt update. End update procedure here, head unit is already updated and does not require further updates. If VR_US version is lower [D], continue to the steps below. 6. 4 D After the VR_US version has been verified lower than 170013 turn the radio OFF by pushing the power button [E] and repeat step (4). E 7. After the engineering menu is displayed, press the “SETUP” hard button [F] on the right side of the radio. Example TSB #: 15-01-024 F Page 7 of 19 SUBJECT: 8. The Micom Firmware Update will take approximately 20 to 25 minutes. NOTICE Do not interrupt the update while in progress. Any interruptions like ignition OFF or USB removal can result in the head unit being permanently disabled. 11. Update performs in the order below : BT→ VG→ VR→ MAIN→ DSP→ FONT * Progress messages shown on the screen. The Radio will automatically reset and then turn off after the update is complete. NOTICE If the audio unit does not turn off within 10 seconds of resetting, the update has failed. Retry update using steps from 6 to 9. 13. If the Update Failed message shown to the right is ever displayed during the update, the contents of the USB may have become damaged. Please contact Hyundai Tech-line for assistance. 1-800-325-6604 14. If the update was successful, the sample message shown to the right will be displayed. 15. After removing the USB update stick, confirm that the software is updated using step (4) above. Sonata (YFa). Main V1.25 BT: V6.8R VR_US_170013 NOTICE See step (16) for the Santa Fe version. With the vehicle’s engine running and the radio in the OFF state, insert the USB stick (F). F 3. Before conducting the update, confirm the current S/W version. With the radio OFF, Press the ‘SEEK(▼)’ button and the ’HD/CAT FOLDER(▲)’button for 2 seconds simultaneously then release both buttons and then tap the ‘SEEK(▼)’ button 4 times. 4. ▼ ▲ If the VR DB: is VR_US_170013 do not attempt to update. No update is needed, end update procedures here. NOTICE If the menu is not shown, turn the radio ON, then OFF and repeat this step (3). Continue to step (5) below if current version is below VR_US_170013. TSB #: 15-01-024 Page 11 of 19 SUBJECT: 5. BLUETOOTH AND VOICE RECOGNITION UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TX5) While inside the ‘Engineering Mode’, press the ‘SETUP’ button (G). G 6. Touch ‘▼’ soft key (H) on the display screen until “Firmware Update by USB” is displayed on the screen. H 7. Touch “Firmware Update by USB”. NOTICE Do not interrupt the update while in progress. Any interruptions like ignition OFF or USB removal can result in the head unit being permanently disabled. 8. I Touch ‘MAIN’ on the display screen to start the upgrade of the main operating software. After the MAIN software update is complete, verify that the software version has been updated successfully. Press the ‘SEEK(▼)’ button and the ’HD/CAT FOLDER(▲)’button for 2 seconds simultaneously then release both buttons and then tap the ‘SEEK(▼)’ button 4 times. Software version after update is complete: Main: V1.28 If the Main version is not V1.28 conduct update steps (3) – (9) again. Sonata (YFa) and Elantra (All) Navigation Bluetooth and Voice Recognition Software Update Sonata (YFa) Elantra (ALL) 1a. The Sonata and Elantra Navigation system use the exact same procedures for updates; example steps in this section will demonstrate only one of the systems but can be applied to both vehicles. 2. With the vehicle’s engine running and the radio ON, insert the USB stick (J). J 3. After pressing ‘Agree’ on the disclaimer screen, press the Phone button (K). BLUETOOTH AND VOICE RECOGNITION UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TX5) Press ‘FSW-Update’ to start the update. NOTICE Do not interrupt the update while in progress. Any interruptions like ignition OFF or USB removal can result in the head unit being permanently disabled. 7a. The update will take approximately 5-9 minutes. When complete, the red progress indicator will turn grey. To continue to the last update steps, you will need to turn the ignition OFF for 15 seconds then turn it back ON. 8. Repeat steps 4-6 to enter the Engineering Menu to verify that the Model RevisionEx: was updated to 3.32.42 Press the Back button (N) if the version was updated successfully. Any interruptions like ignition OFF or USB removal can result in the head unit being permanently disabled. 13a. Update preparation status will be shown before the update begins. The navigation may reboot before the update starts. 14. The update will take approximate 8 minutes. Follow (9) – (12) steps to verify the software was updated. Sonata version after update is complete: Sonata (YFa) : YF12MY_MIC.USA.SOP.00.027 Repeat all steps to update Elantra.
