Technical Service Bulletin SUBJECT: NUMBER GROUP 14-01-050 CAMPAIGN MODEL(S) DATE NOVEMBER 2014 TUCSON (LM) ELANTRA (MD) NAVIGATION OPERATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TV1) *IMPORTANT *****DEALER STOCK ONLY***** Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery. When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns. Description: This bulletin provides the service procedure to update the navigation operating software. The update enhances the Bluetooth hands free system such as voice recognition , phonebook download , and phone connection compatibility. Applicable Vehicles: • 2015 Tucson (LM) equipped with touchscreen navigation system. • 2015 Elantra (MD) equipped with touchscreen navigation system. C S/W UPDATE SD CARD ~s@ 16~ Update will take approximately 20 mins. 96560-AVN 15 • • • OPCODE OPERATION · OP TIME 40C069R1 AVN S/W UPDATE FOR BLUETOOTH HANDS FREE FUNCTION 0.3 M/H NOTE: Submit Claim on Campaign Claim Entry Screen After the update, only the SD Card that was delivered with the vehicle in the owner's manual for that VIN can be used with the Navigation System . DO NOT INSERT ANY OTHER SD CARD from any similar Owner's Manual. If a different or incorrect SD card is inserted into the Navigation System, the error message "This is not the proper map data" will be displayed on the navigation screen . When the message , "This is not the proper map data" is displayed , the correct SD card needs to be reinserted. A replacement card for this error is not covered under warranty . TSB # : 14-01-050 Page 2 of 10 SUBJECT: NAVIGATION OPERATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TV1) GENERAL PRECAUTIONS: • Ensure the vehicle's battery has reasonable charge . If the vehicle has been in storage , run the engine to ensure an adequate battery charge state for reliable results. • Turn off all lights (do not leave the headlight switch in auto mode) and all accessories (including heater/air conditioner/fan for both front and rear(if equipped) , audio , heated seats, rear defroster, etc.) to ensure the battery will not be discharged during the procedure. • Perform the procedure with the ignition key in the ON position (Press the Start-Stop button 2 times without depressing the brake pedal for smart key vehicle) . • Do not remove the Update SD card while the software is downloading. • Do not start the engine or turn the ignition switch OFF during the procedure. Service Procedure: TUCSON (LM) SOFTWARE UPDATE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-. 1. Turn the ignition ON (Press the Start-Stop button 2 times without depressing the brake pedal for smart key vehicle) . 2. Press the power knob (A) to turn on the AVN . Press the INFO/SETUP (B) button . TSB#: 14-01-050 Page 3 of 1O NAVIGATION OPERATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TV1) SUBJECT: 3. Select Setup . 4. Select System Update to check S/W version . 4a . If the software version is Current LM.USA.SOP.14.025, no update is required . If the software version is Previous (lower than or equal to LM.USA.SOP.14.018) then proceed with the software update step (5) below. If applicable remove the SD map card from head unit and temporarily store it in the Update SD Card case . Next insert the provided S/W Update SD Card (P/No . 96560-AVN15) into the slot. The software will automatically update and will take about 20 minutes. Do not remove the S/W update SD Card, turn the ignition off, or start the vehicle during the software update. 6. TSB#: 14-01-050 Page 5of10 SUBJECT: NAVIGATION OPERATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TV1) 7. After the software update has been completed , check the S/W version by following steps (2) - (4) . S/W Version LM.USA.SOP.14.025 If the SD Map Card is still sealed in the owner's manual , disregard this step and proceed to the Elantra software update procedure in step (12) . Ensure that the correct SD Map Card is placed in the vehicle at the time of retail. SD Map Card P/N 96554-25113 8. After confirming the software version , remove the Update SD Card (P/N 96560 AVN 15) from the head unit and re-insert the SD Map Card that was delivered with the vehicle. 9. After the head unit reboots , confirm system functionality by pressing Agree on the disclaimer screen . • 25113 a STD 3.X(USA) • ~ 94SS< - ?Slll CUM€ ~ 16~ The navigation map screen should be displayed. If the error message "This is not the proper map data" is shown , the incorrect SD Map Card has been installed in the vehicle . TSB # : 14-01-050 Page 6of10 ' SUBJECT: NAVIGATION OPERATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATE (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TV1) After the update , only the SD Card that was delivered with the vehicle in the owner's manual for that VIN can be used with the Navigation System. DO NOT INSERT ANY OTHER SD CARD from any similar Owner's Manual. If a different or incorrect SD card is inserted into the Navigation System , the error message "This is not the proper map data" will be displayed on the navigation screen . Select System Update to check S/W version . 4 . If the software version is Current MDFL.USA.SOP.14.021 , no update is required . If the software version is Previous (lower than or equal to MDFL.USA.SOP.14.013) then proceed with the software update step (15) below. Version 5. Current MDFLUSA.SOP .14.021 Previous MDFL.USA.SOP.14.013 If applicable remove the SD map card from head unit and temporarily store it in the Update SD Card case . Next insert the provided S/W Update SD Card (P/No . 96560-AVN 15) into the slot. The software will automatically update and will take about 20 minutes. Do not remove the SIW update SD Card, tum the ignition off, or start the vehicle during the software update. The head unit will restart and begin updating. 6a Update progress screen . 6b Update completion screen. 7. After the software update has been completed , check the S/W version by following steps (12)- (14) . Ensure that the correct SD Map Card is placed in the vehicle at the time of retail. SD Map Card P/N 96554-3X113 8. After confirming the software version , remove the Update SD Card (P/N 96560 AVN 15) from the head unit and re -insert the SD Map Card that was delivered with the vehicle. 9. After the head unit reboots, confirm system functionality by pressing Agree on the disclaimer screen. The navigation map screen should be displayed . If the error message "This is not the proper map data" is shown , the incorrect SD Map Card has been installed in the vehicle . After the update , only the SD Card that was delivered with the vehicle in the owner's manual for that VIN can be used with the Navigation System .
