File in Section: Service Bulletin Bulletin No.: Date: PIT5065E January, 2013 PRELIMINARY INFORMATION Subject: SES Indicator Due To DTC P0690 - Reprogram ECM Models: 2010 - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox 2010 - 2011 GMC Terrain Built Prior to March 15, 2011 This PI was superseded to update admin details. Please discard PIT5065D. The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern Some customers may comment on a SES indicator coming on. During diagnosis a technician may find DTC P0690 set in the ECM for the KR75 ECM relay. The code will clear and may not return during diagnostic testing. Engineering has determined that the ECM is still monitoring the KR75 ECM relay during ignition/key off while the ECM is going to sleep. When the ECM detects voltage from the relay one time, DTC P0690 sets and the SES indicator is illuminated. This DTC is supposed to indicate a stuck closed relay but engineering has determined that a software anomaly may cause it to falsely set on vehicles built prior to March 15, 2011. Recommendation/Instructions If SI diagnosis does not isolate the cause of this concern, reprogram the ECM with the latest TIS2Web calibrations, which are designed to address this concern. Warranty Information For vehicles repaired under warranty use: Labor Operation Description Labor Time J6350 Engine Control Module Reprogramming with SPS Use Published Labor Operation Time Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step.
