Changes are highlighted in gray SECTION: 501-00 Rear Window Lower Finisher Loose AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE: XJ Range (X351) Model Year: 2010-2013 VIN: V00047-V53430 MARKETS: NAS CONDITION SUMMARY: Situation: The rear window lower finisher may be loose from the rear window glass. Cause: This may be caused by the adhesive tape securing the finisher to the glass not creating a sufficient bond. Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction outlined below. PARTS: 3M Scotch-Weld (translucent) DP8005 Quantity: Locally sourced TOOLS: NOTE: 3M Applicator gun (62-9170-9930-1), mixing nozzle (62-9171-9953-1), and plunger (629170-9910-3) – locally sourced from 3M 3M Applicator gun 62-9170-9930-1 Mixing nozzle 62-9171-9953-1 Plunger 62-9170-9910-3 WARRANTY: NOTE: Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero. http://topix.jaguar.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/440887 10/14/2013 Page 2 of 5 DESCRIPTION SRO TIME (HOURS) CONDITION CODE CAUSAL PART Secure rear window glass lower seal 10.10.99 0.20 07 C2D13405 (vehicles with privacy glass) Secure rear window glass lower seal 10.10.99 0.20 07 C2D13406 (vehicles without privacy glass) NOTE: Normal Warranty policies and procedures apply. SERVICE INSTRUCTION: 1. Open the luggage compartment lid. 2. NOTE: Make sure that the luggage compartment latch is put in to the closed position to reduce the battery voltage drain. Using a suitable tool, position the luggage compartment latch to the closed / latched position. 3. NOTE: To aid installation, note the installed position of the rear window glass seal. Carefully remove the rear window glass finisher. 4. Using a suitable tool, remove the three (3) sections of adhesive tape from the rear window glass. 5. Using a suitable cleaning fluid, clean the lower edges of the rear window glass. http://topix.jaguar.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/440887 10/14/2013 Page 3 of 5 6. Using a suitable cleaning fluid, clean the outer faces and the channel of the rear window glass finisher. 7. Using a suitable blade, remove and discard the section of the rear window glass finisher shown. 8. NOTE: Make sure that the correct parts are used; failure to follow this instruction may result in an incorrect adhesive mixture. Assemble the applicator gun as shown. NOTE: Use special tools 3M Applicator gun (62-9170-9930-1), mixing nozzle (629171-9953-1), and plunger (62-9170-99103) and adhesive DP8005. NOTE: Make sure that the sealant is not applied to the outer edges of the finisher. Using the applicator gun, apply a 2mm bead of the sealant in to the lower corner of the rear window glass finisher. Apply a continuous bead of sealant along the length of the rear window glass finisher channel, apart from the sections of the channel that are within 10mm of the ends. 10. NOTE: Install the rear window glass finisher to the previously installed position. Carefully install the rear window glass finisher. Starting at one end, make sure the rear window glass finisher is correctly aligned to the rear window glass. 11. NOTE: Make sure that the tape applies a suitable pressure on the rear window glass finisher until adhesion has been completed. NOTE: Make sure that the tape does not touch the top edge of the rear window glass finisher; failure to follow this instruction may result in the tape bonding with the sealant. Using a suitable tape, secure the finisher in to the correct position. Whilst applying tension to the tape, secure the upper section of the tape to the rear window glass. Make sure that the tape does not remain in contact with rear window glass at the top of the rear window glass finisher. 12. Repeat the above step at suitable intervals across the width of the finisher 13. Wait 90 minutes. 14. Remove the tape. 15. Clean the surrounding area. Make sure that all tape residue and excess sealant is removed. 16. Release the luggage compartment latch. 17.
