SECTION: 413-01 Rhythmic 'Blip' Noise From Front Door Speakers AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE: XJ Range (X351) Model Year: 2010-2012 VIN: V00047-V39298 MARKETS: NAS CONDITION SUMMARY: Situation: A rhythmic 'blip' noise may be heard from the front door mid-range speakers. The noise may occur after the vehicle has been shut down for a number of minutes and is then woken up upon entry to the vehicle. Cause: Under certain conditions the Instrument Cluster (IC) may momentarily reset. The reset induces a ring break, which is identified as a rhythmic speaker 'blip' noise when the vehicle is woken up. Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction outlined below. IDS with latest IDS-DVD and Calibration File; first available on DVD134.01 v.133 Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply WARRANTY: NOTE: Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Always refer to TOPIx to obtain the latest repair time. NOTE: DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero. DESCRIPTION SRO TIME (HOURS) CONDITION CODE CAUSAL PART Fit New Instrument Cluster 88.30.20 0.20 42 C2D23729 Configure New Instrument Cluster 86.99.25 0.30 42 C2D23729 NOTE: Normal Warranty policies and procedures apply. http://topix.jaguar.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/422662 7/5/2013 Page 2 of 2 SERVICE INSTRUCTION: NOTE: The following Instrument Cluster (IC) replacement procedure must be initiated with the old IC fitted to the vehicle. Validate the accurate, current mileage has been recorded on the repair order. Make sure a new IC is present before completing this procedure. 1. CAUTION: A Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS / SDD diagnosis / module programming. NOTE: IDS must be loaded with DVD134.01 v.133 or later. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the vehicle battery. 2. NOTE: Follow all SDD screen instructions; install the new Instrument Cluster (IC) only when advised to by SDD. Refer to TOPIx Workshop Manual section 413-01 for IC replacement instructions. NOTE: Mileage will automatically be recorded and transferred from the old Instrument Cluster (IC) to the new IC during the SDD replacement procedure. Connect SDD to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session, by reading the VIN for the current vehicle and initiating the data collect sequence. 3. Follow the SDD prompts. NOTE: At the end of the Instrument Cluster (IC) SDD replacement procedure, make sure the mileage is correct in the new IC. 4. Select 'Service functions' from the Session Type screen. 5. Select 'continue'. 6. Select the 'Recommendations' tab, and then select 'Run' to perform the 'Configure new module – Instrument cluster control module' option. 7. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task. 8. Exit the current session. 9.
