Issue: Reports have been received of engine damage occurring, which is caused by the use of non-approved engine induction / fuel
injection cleaning equipment or materials. This includes, but is not limited to, "Vacu-flush" type equipment.
Cause: The use of non-approved equipment can cause the engines to hydro-lock, or cause other engine damage, and sometimes the
only possible repair is to replace the engine.
Action: Any approved products have been fully tested by Land Rover engineering, and will be published through the standard
communications such as; TOPIx, Special Service Messages, Technical Bulletins, or Special Tools.
For example, for V8 AJ133 engines refer to TOPIx section 303-04 (Fuel Injection Component Cleaning / Fuel Injection Component
Cleaning Using Pressure Cleaner). For North America only also refer to LTB00409.
Damage caused by the use of non-approved equipment or cleaners may invalidate engine warranty coverage.
