INFORMATION
Subject:
Information on Removing Protective Film Bumper Covers Upon Delivery of
Vehicle (PDI)
Models:
2012-2014 Chevrolet Express
2012-2014 GMC Savana
This bulletin has been revised to add the 2014 model year. Please discard Corporate Bulletin
Number 08-08-51-003C.
This bulletin is being issued to inform dealers to remove
the protective film bumper covers from the vehicle upon
delivery. These protective film covers are used for
transit purposes only. These protective film covers may
be found on the front bumper corners and rear bumper
corners (if the vehicle is equipped with a rear bumper).
These protective film bumper covers should be
removed before the vehicle is stored. If the film covers
are not removed and left in the sunlight, the adhesive
backing on the film cover could transfer to the bumper
surface.
1. Remove the protective film cover in one continuous
motion in order to reduce the amount of adhesive
material left behind.
2. Clean the area with a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl
alcohol and water (or alcohol wipe) to remove any
adhesive.
GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a
job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the
information.
