File in Section: Service Bulletin Bulletin No.: Date: PIP4871C February, 2014 PRELIMINARY INFORMATION Subject: MIL Possible DTCs P1B10 And Or P1B0F Models: 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt 2012-2013 Opel Ampera This PI was superseded to update model list. Please discard PIP4871B. The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern During diagnosis of a MIL technicians may find DTC P1B0F (Drive Motor A Position Sensor Learn Incorrect) and / or DTC P1B10 (Drive Motor B Position Sensor Learn Incorrect) stored in the HPCM. Recommendation/Instructions These DTCS may be set if the vehicle was powered off while driving with the shift lever out of park. The driver may have purposefully or inadvertently pressed the power button instead of the Drive Mode button. Review the freeze frame records and if there is a vehicle speed reading greater than zero KPH (zero mph) DO NOT attempt any repairs for these DTCs. Explain to the customer that inadvertently shutting the vehicle off while in motion (out of park) may cause this MIL to illuminate, and this is design intent. Note: There are some known instances where the diagnostic will falsely set if the vehicle is powered on while it is plugged in. Explain to the customer that inadvertently shutting the vehicle off while in motion (out of park) may cause this MIL to illuminate, and this is design intent. Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
