File in Section: Bulletin No.: Service Bulletin Date: PI0558B September, 2012 PRELIMINARY INFORMATION Subject: A/C Inoperative and/or A/C Blows Warm Air Models: 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal 2012 Buick Verano 2011-2012 Chevrolet Cruze 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Built Prior to September 1, 2012 This PI is being revised to add a breakpoint date for the Malibu and update the Recommendation/Instructions. Please discard PI0558A. Condition/Concern Some customers may comment that the A/C blows warm air or is not working at all. Recommendation/Instructions In some cases, the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor may read incorrectly. This could be due to a sensor issue, or the connector assemblies may allow water intrusion. Loss of refrigerant from the A/C pressure relief valve may also occur due to the pressure sensor never reading high enough to engage the engine cooling fans. 1. Use the GDS 2 and a MDI to monitor the A/C High Side Pressure Sensor value in the HVAC module. 2. Compare this value to the actual gauge readings from the high side pressure. 3. If the values differ by more than 130 kPa (19 psi), remove the connector from the sensor and inspect for signs of corrosion (you will usually notice a green residue in between the sensor and the connector). • If corrosion is detected, you must replace both the A/C sensor and the connector. • If NO corrosion is detected, replace ONLY the sensor. 4. If the GDS 2 pressure and actual gauge readings are within 130 kPa (19 psi), proceed with the normal diagnosis in SI.
