The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern
If no resolution is found after performing normal diagnostics for any issues related to the BPP (Brake Pedal Position)
sensor, inspect connector X205 for a terminal concern. This connector is located under the left side of the I/P defrost
deflector - as reflected in "I/P Harness Routing - Passenger Compartment" illustration of Service Information.
Below is a list of some symptoms an owner may experience if there is a BPP concern:
1. SES MIL with a P057C and/or P057D
2. Cruise or brake light issues with a C0277
3. Service Stability Message with a C0161
4. Reduced engine power with NO DTCs (Brake Pedal Override)
5. Unwanted Grade Braking
Recommendation/Instructions
Inspect X205 for loose, backed out, and bent, etc. terminals using the appropriate terminal test probe, per SI
Connector End View. Repair as needed.
Warranty Information
For vehicles repaired under warranty, please use the appropriate warranty labor operation based on the actual
cause and repair. The latest version of bulletin 10-00-89-005A: "Warranty Administration - Revised Wiring Repair
Labor Operations and Required Additional Information" can use as a reference.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is
resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
