PRELIMINARY INFORMATION
Subject:
Radio Button Backlighting Inoperative (Inspect X212 Connector)
Models:
2007 - 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
2007 - 2013 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
Without Y91 or STZ
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern
Some owners may comment that the backlighting for the radio buttons is inoperative. The radio display will work
properly and dim up and down with the panel dimmer switch. This could be caused by an open/high resistance in
the LED Dimming circuit 6817 to the radio.
Recommendation/Instructions
If after performing normal diagnostics and the concern is not found, inspect for a bent or backed out terminal at
connector X212 pin B7 (see picture below). Repair as necessary.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is
resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
