File in Section: Bulletin No.: Service Bulletin Date: PIT5177 September, 2012 PRELIMINARY INFORMATION Subject: Inaccurate Or Slow Response Of Outside Air Temperature Display Models: 2012 Escalade Models 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe Models 2012 GMC Sierra, Yukon Models With Auto HVAC (RPO CJ2) The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern: Some customers may comment that the outside air temperature display is inaccurate when starting the vehicle, or that the display is slow to change/update after driving the vehicle. The ambient air temperature sensor mounts under hood and can be affected by city driving, idling, and restarting of a hot engine. Therefore, the HVAC control module filters the value of the ambient air temperature sensor for temperature display. The ambient air temperature displayed is updated under certain criteria that are listed in Service Information under Air Temperature Description and Operation. Recommendation/Instructions: If after normal diagnostic and reviewing the Air Temperature Description and Operation, a repair is not found, reprogram the HVAC Control Module with updated calibration currently available in TIS2WEB. Warranty Information: For vehicles repaired under warranty use: Labor Operation Description Labor Time D4707 HVAC System Control Module Reprogramming with SPS Use Published Labor Operation Time Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
