Subject:
Inaccurate Or Slow Response Of Outside Air Temperature Display
Models:
2012 Escalade Models
2012 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe Models
2012 GMC Sierra, Yukon Models
With Auto HVAC (RPO CJ2)
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that the outside air temperature display is inaccurate when starting the vehicle, or
that the display is slow to change/update after driving the vehicle. The ambient air temperature sensor mounts
under hood and can be affected by city driving, idling, and restarting of a hot engine. Therefore, the HVAC control
module filters the value of the ambient air temperature sensor for temperature display. The ambient air temperature
displayed is updated under certain criteria that are listed in Service Information under Air Temperature Description
and Operation.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If after normal diagnostic and reviewing the Air Temperature Description and Operation, a repair is not found,
reprogram the HVAC Control Module with updated calibration currently available in TIS2WEB.
