the same importance of a Technical Service Bulletin. An SSM is a quick method of
communicating "Need To Know" information to the technical service community. SSM's may
be issued in advance of a technical bulletin or may be the only communication on a given
topic. All information contained in Land Rover technical communications are intended for
use by trained, professional technicians with the knowledge, tools, and equipment required
to complete the procedure correctly and safely. It informs the Technicians of conditions that
may occur on some vehicles, or provides information that could assist in correct vehicle and
diagnostic service.

Symptom : 301000 Service Brake System
Content : Issue: Front brake callipers appear to be leaking brake
fluid.
Cause: Assembly grease/fluid is present from the
manufacturing process and gives a similar appearance
to a brake fluid leak.
Action: When investigating any potential brake fluid
leaks please first remove any traces of grease/fluid
from the calliper area then firmly pump the brake
pedal several times before re-inspecting to confirm if
there is a genuine leak or not.
The attached photo shows typical grease/assembly
fluid migration over time and is not a leak, this unit has
been removed and confirmed as not leaking.
