2009-2013 Routan – Cluster Warning Lights Coming On,
Windshield Wipers Will Not Turn Off, and/or Headlights Will
Not Shut Off
Customer concerns of all cluster warning lights coming on, windshield wipers not turning off, headlights not
shutting off may be caused by an interior high speed (IHS) CAN bus concern. Check the following before
continuing with normal diagnosis. See TT 97-12-03 for more information about diagnosing CAN bus
concerns.
1) Check the third row VES3 screen connections. Check that the gray connector is fully seated at
VES3 module. Check other connectors at VES3 are full seated as well. Check for terminal push
out and spread terminals in connectors.
2) If no concerns are noted with VES3 connectors, ensure the TIPM connectors are fully seated and
locked into TIPM. Check for terminal push out and spread terminals in connectors at TIPM.
3) Monitor the interior modules topology with the scan tool while moving the harnesses at the Bpillar sliding door track. Look for a drop out and or change with the bus communication while
moving these harness locations.
4) If the vehicle has a FSM (3rd row folding seat module), check the connector at the lower seat
back area for any connector connection issues. Loose connections in this area have been noted
to cause excessive bus noise corrupting IHS bus communication.
