Tech Tip T-TT-0206-12 July 09, 2013 CONDITION Some customers may experience a 'Check EV System' message after attempting to charge their vehicle. No other vehicle operation or performance issues are present. This may be a result of incompatibility with unapproved EV charging stations. RECOMMENDATIONS Leviton Mfg. is the Toyota-approved supplier for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), EV charging stations. Leviton's Level 2 (240V) 40A, 30A and 16A Toyota Program models and EVRgreen series have been extensively tested and approved for use with the Toyota RAV4 EV and Prius Plug-in hybrid vehicle. While there are numerous charging stations offered in the market, only the Leviton models specified above have been fully approved for use on Toyota vehicles . Toyota will continue to conduct basic testing on other manufacturers' Level 2 charging stations. At this time, the following Level 2 charging stations* have completed a basic level of confirmation indicating potential compatibility with the Toyota RAV4 EV: Manufacturer AeroVironment Charge Point I Coulomb Technologies Clipper Creek Eaton Schneider Electric Models Level 2 EVSE-RS CT2000 Series CS Series Pow-R-Station (Commercial), EV Charg ing Station (Residential) EVlink Indoor CharQinQ Station (EV2430WS) *This list is subject to change If you suspect the 'Check EV System' message is displayed due to use of an incompatible charging station , clear the message by following the procedure on page 2. Verify no other DTCs or abnormal conditions are present before utilizing the clearing procedure outlined below. 1. Disconnect the charging station from the vehicle. 2. IG ON (press the "Start" button 2 times with foot OFF the brake pedal). 3. Wait 10 seconds for the system to complete the start-up check to look for existing errors. 4. IG OFF (press the "Start" button 1 time with foot OFF the brake pedal,). 5. Wait 1 second. 6. Repeat steps 2 through 5, four times. The warning message should no longer be displayed.
