Bulletin No.: PIP3869B Date: May-2016 Subject: Transmission Electrical or Communication DTCs Models: 2005 - 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt 2005 - 2011 Chevrolet HHR This PI was updated for more model years. Please discard PIP3869A The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern The vehicle may have a concern of any electrical transmission or communication DTC. The concern may be intermittent and hard for the dealer to duplicate. Recommendation/Instructions Check the transmission wiring harness that is under the beauty cover for the engine. It may be pinched at the engine block near the oil filter or have a bare spot. If no problem is found, then check the 20 way connector for proper connection and pin fit and fully reseat the 20 way connector. If no problem is found, continue to complete the normal published diagnostics. Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information. WE SUPPORT VOLUNTARY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION 1
