Advanced Technical Information All 1403 0 0905 This bulletin replaces bulletin Group 0, PIWIS Tester III Reporting & Claiming of Software Issues Attention: Porsche Service Personnel Vehicle Type: All Model Year: 1989-on Concern: PIWIS Tester III Reporting & Claiming of Software Issues Information: #1403, dated 09-16-14 Detailed logging information is required, in order for the PIWIS Tester group at PAG to investigate anyclaims of PIWIS Tester III software issues. To ensure PCNA technical Support receives the necessary information, to properly report suspected tester issues to PAG: Please follow the procedure below, for reporting of any suspected tester issues. In the event a component(s) is damaged as a direct result of the use of the PIWIS Tester III or the tester should fail due to a software related issue with the tester itself, the consequential damage will be considered under warranty. The additional labor/parts may be claimed on a separate job line in PQIS coded to the PIWIS Tester III (see below) and coded to the respective warranty code (2, P, 5). The PQIS job line must contain details that support how the PIWIS Tester III failed and, if applicable, how the consequential damage occurred to any other components. Should a tester failure occur in conjunction with a customer pay repair order, reimbursement will be considered for any consequential damage by submitting the claim under goodwill, warranty code 5, bypassing PGAT. Reporting & Claiming Procedures and Requirements • PIWIS Tester III software version must be up-to-date • Generate before and after VALs and attach them to the PQIS job • Submit a Techline Assistance Request (TLAR) via PTEC with the appropriate priority level for the situation • Create video and extended logging files of the issue (which are required by PAG) • PQIS "Dealer - add on repair" job line must be created and coded to 0905 Porsche Special Tool (For claiming only) ©2016 Porsche Cars North America, Inc. AfterSales July 18, 2016 Page 1 of 2 0 All 0905 Advanced Technical Information 1403 Once all of the above criteria have been met, a warranty claim may be submitted via PQIS/WWS using the example coding below: To obtain the requested Extended Log you can select Start Log under Tools-> Logging or by pressing Ctrl/L on the keyboard. A yellow box will appear as a border around the screen indicating the logging is in process. Perform the necessary Coding or Programming. When all steps have been carried out, you finish the log by pressing Stop Logging or Ctrl/L again. When the logging has been performed, download via Tools-> Data-> File Management-> Logging. Instructions will be provided via the TLAR on how to transfer the log file to PCNA. Please note: A situation may occur in the workshop regarding a suspected tester issue but, for whatever reason, the required documentation outlined in this bulletin was unable to be produced. Without the required documentation, PAG and PCNA will not be able to verify, nor find a resolution for the suspected issue. The purpose of this document is to provide a means of claiming time that is a direct result of PIWIS Tester III software issues. However, if an issue occurs where a VAL(s), extended logging and/or video is not obtainable, provided the requested time is fair, realistic and justified, it will be considered for warranty reimbursement under the respective warranty code for the situation. Please note, this is an exception and not the rule, therefore it is the dealers responsibility to ensure all steps outlined are taken when warranted. We would recommend that you prepare to capture the necessary documentation on subsequent times that the specific task is attempted in the workshop. Service Technical Information 141/15 ENU WF93 2 WF93 - Replacing Vacuum Line for Exhaust Flaps (Workshop Campaign) Information Additions compared to the previous Technical Information: In order to replace the vacuum line for the exhaust flaps, the rear apron must be removed and installed. On vehicles with Lane Change Assist (I-no. 457) and/or ParkAssist incl. reversing camera (I-no. 638), Lane Change Assist and/or the reversing camera must be re-calibrated using the PIWIS Tester after removing and installing the rear apron. The Scopes 7 – 18 have also been added for invoicing the calibration work. Revision: Revision 1: July 1, 2016 Information regarding this specific revision is located at the top of the page under the section marked “Information”. PLEASE DELETE ALL OTHER VERSIONS OF WF93 THAT YOU MAY HAVE IN YOUR POSSESSION. Model Year: 2017 Important: CRITICAL WARNING - This campaign includes steps where control unit(s) in the vehicle will be programmed with the PIWIS Tester. The vehicle voltage must be maintained between 13.5 volts and 14.5 volts during this programming. Failure to maintain this voltage could result in damaged control unit(s). Damage caused by inadequate voltage during programming is not a warrantable defect. The technician must verify the actual vehicle voltage in the PIWIS Tester before starting the campaign and also document the actual voltage on the repair order. Please refer to Equipment Information EQ1401 for a list of suitable battery chargers/power supplies which should be used to maintain vehicle voltage. Invoicing: Damage Code WF93 66 000, Repair Code 2 Important Notice: Technical Bulletins issued by Porsche Cars North America, Inc. are intended only for use by professional automotive technicians who have attended Porsche service training courses. They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some Porsche vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper servicing of a vehicle. Porsche special tools may be necessary in order to perform certain operations identified in these bulletins. Use of tools and procedures other than those Porsche recommends in these bulletins may be detrimental to the safe operation of your vehicle, and may endanger the people working on it. Properly trained Porsche technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do the job properly and safely. If a particular condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your authorized Porsche Dealer for the latest information about whether a particular technical bulletin applies to your vehicle. Part numbers listed in these bulletins are for reference only. Always check with your authorized Porsche dealer to verify the current and correct part numbers. The work procedures updated electronically in the Porsche PIWIS diagnostic and testing device take precedence and, in the event of a discrepancy, the work procedures in the PIWIS Tester are the ones that must be followed. © Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
