Bulletin No.: PIT5522 Date: Aug-2016 Subject: Unable To Complete SPS IMMO Immobilizer Theft Learn Brand: Model: Model Year: VIN: from to from Engine: Transmission: All All to Cadillac Escalade 2015 2016 All Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2014 2014 All All All All Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe 2015 2016 All All All All GMC Sierra 1500 2014 2014 All All All All GMC Sierra, Yukon Models 20150 2016 All All All All Involved Region or Country North America Additional RPO/s: N/A Condition All When performing the SPS IMMO Immobilizer Theft Learn, it may not complete and/or show "Controller ID not supported" after the first few minutes into the learn event. Cause This issue could be caused by the On-Star module (K73) waking up and interrupting the IMMO Immobilizer Theft Learn event. Correction To keep the On-Star module (K73) from waking up during the IMMO Immobilizer Theft Learn, it can be disabled by removing its power feed (fuse). To disable the On-Star Module (K73) perform the following: 1. In the Right Instrument Panel Fuse Block (X51R) remove the "INFO/AIRBAG (10A/10A)" fuse. This will be a 3 legged fuse and one leg of the fuse feeds the SIR Module (K36) and the other leg feeds the On-Star Module (K73). The SIR module (K36) has an immobilizer environment identifier and it will need to be put back online so that it communicates during the IMMO Immobilizer Theft Learn. 2. To re-supply power to the SIR module (K36), simply obtain a 10 amp, 2 legged fuse and reinstall it back into the "INFO/AIRBAG" fuse position. An example is shown below for reference ONLY. Make sure the fuse is installed so it powers the SIR Module (K36) and NOT the On-Star Module (K73). To make sure it is in the correct position, use GDS2 and make sure the On-Star module will NOT communicate and the SIR Module (K36) WILL communicate. 1 3. Perform the SPS IMMO Immobilizer Theft Learn again. 4. When complete, remove the 2 legged fuse and reinstall the original 3 legged "INFO/AIRBAG" (10A/10A) fuse. 2 Version 1 Modified GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information. WE SUPPORT VOLUNTARY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION 3
