REVISION SUMMARY
The gear box assembly is no longer a controlled part. Since only a small number of vehicles will need a gearbox
assembly, order one only when your dealership has a vehicle with DTC 53-01 or 53-02.
BACKGROUND
American Honda is extending the warranty coverage on all electronic power steering torque sensors to 5 years from the
original date of purchase with no mileage limit. This only applies to vehicles with EPS DTCs 53-01 torque sensor
(low/high check) or DTC 53-02 torque sensor (average check).
This warranty extension will not apply to any vehicle that has ever been declared a total loss or sold for salvage by a
financial institution or insurer, or has a branded or similar title under any state’s law.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this warranty extension in September 2015.
Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Diagnose the vehicle, if DTC 53-01 or DTC 53-02 is stored, replace the power steering gear box assembly.
