Introduction
Some 2012 – 2016 model year RAV4 vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise which is heard coming
from the front brakes with light to moderate braking. To address this squeak noise condition, use
the following Repair Procedure.

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm squeak noise location.
Is the noise coming from the front of the vehicle?

YES — Continue to step 2.

NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Does the noise sound similar to the sound file attached below?
Sound example (high pitched squeak noise from front of vehicle)

YES — Continue to step 3.

NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.

Repair Procedure
3. Replace Pads/Shims, and Fitting Kit.
Refer to the Technical Information System
(TIS), applicable model and model year
Repair Manual:
Figure 1.
 2012 – 2016 RAV4:
Brake – Brakes – Brake (Front) – “Brake
(Front): Front Brake: Removal”
Confirm installation is in correct location
(slot location). Refer to Figure 1.

4. Test drive vehicle and confirm squeak noise is no longer present under light braking at
low speed.
