Engine Knock
AFFECTED VEHICLES
2016 HR-V
We’re getting reports of engine knock coming from the No. 1 journal/oil pump area at the front of the engine. It can
happen with the engine cold or hot and it’s noticeable when idling in Park or in gear at lower rpm and light engine load.
If you get a vehicle in for this concern, do these two things to verify it:
•
Remove the accessory belt. Doing this should stop or reduce the noise.
•
Disable the No. 1 cylinder by disconnecting the coil. This should also stop or reduce the noise.
While we understand the concern for this noise, keep in mind it won’t cause engine failure or get any worse, so avoid
doing any repairs at this time. We’re currently reviewing this concern and will let you know when a fix is available.
