Contents
This document informs the field of a missing poppet in the EcoFit™ aftertreatment fuel injector
causing Fault Code 3167 or 1691.
This issue is isolated to the new EcoFit™ aftertreatment fuel injector design. The new EcoFit™
aftertreatment fuel injector is susceptible to the inner poppet falling out due to a worn retaining
spring retainer. This situation can increase the probability of fouling that can cause a high
restriction of the injection of fuel into the aftertreatment system.
See Table 1 to reference the affected part numbers:

The engine control module (ECM) illuminates the amber CHECK ENGINE lamp and/or
the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL).
Fuel injection into the aftertreatment system is not sufficient to perform active
regeneration of the aftertreatment diesel particulate filter.
Malfunctioned EcoFit™ aftertreatment fuel injectors will have a hole in the center of the
injection point. A normal EcoFit™ aftertreatment fuel injector will have a visible plunger
(poppet) at the center of the injection point.
