Page 1 of 3 Technical Service Bulletin Number TSB130159 Revision Level Date Group Number Technical Service Bulletin Subject Fault Code 3167 or 1691 Caused by a Missing Poppet in the EcoFit™ Aftertreatment Fuel Injector Warranty Statement The information in this document has no effect on present warranty coverage or repair practices, nor does it authorize TRP or Campaign actions. Contents This document informs the field of a missing poppet in the EcoFit™ aftertreatment fuel injector causing Fault Code 3167 or 1691. This issue is isolated to the new EcoFit™ aftertreatment fuel injector design. The new EcoFit™ aftertreatment fuel injector is susceptible to the inner poppet falling out due to a worn retaining spring retainer. This situation can increase the probability of fouling that can cause a high restriction of the injection of fuel into the aftertreatment system. See Table 1 to reference the affected part numbers: Table 1 Engine Family EcoFit™ Aftertreatment Fuel Injector Part Number EcoFit™ Aftertreatment Fuel Injector Service Kit Part Number ISX CM871 ISM CM876 5300987 4309454NX ISX 12 https://quickserve.cummins.com/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/tsb/2013/tsb130159.html 6/2/2014 Fault Code 3167 or 1691 Caused by a Missing Poppet in the EcoFit™ Aftertreatment Fue... Fuel injection into the aftertreatment system is not sufficient to perform active regeneration of the aftertreatment diesel particulate filter. Malfunctioned EcoFit™ aftertreatment fuel injectors will have a hole in the center of the injection point. A normal EcoFit™ aftertreatment fuel injector will have a visible plunger (poppet) at the center of the injection point. https://quickserve.cummins.com/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/tsb/2013/tsb130159.html 6/2/2014 Fault Code 3167 or 1691 Caused by a Missing Poppet in the EcoFit™ Aftertreatment Fue...
