Description
This Temporary Repair Practice authorizes repair locations to remove and discard the laminar
flow screen, part number 3929159, on ISX12 G CM2180 EJ applications when working on the
fuel control housing or removing the fuel transfer tube.
Action
In order to qualify for repair under this field action, an engine:
1. will be covered Regardless of coverage status, and
2. must be on the attached ESN list, and
3. must have repair or troubleshooting on one or more of the following components: fuel
control valve, gas mass flow sensor, fuel pressure/temperature sensor, fuel transfer tube,

and fuel control housing.
After verifying that the engine meets the above requirements, perform the following actions:
When working on the fuel control valve, gas mass flow sensor, fuel pressure/temperature
sensor, fuel transfer tube, and/or fuel control housing, remove and discard the laminar flow
screen, Part Number 3929159, and reassemble without the laminar flow screen. Please refer
to ISX12 G CM2180 EJ Service Manual, Bulletin Number 4310682, Procedure 005-009, Fuel
Control Housing, for details of the laminar flow screen location.
Material Disposition
Materials removed as a result of this field action must be scrapped unless the laminar flow
screen is torn/ruptured. Document and return any torn/ruptured laminar flow screen on a
Product Incident Report in the Technical Service Request database (care.cummins.com).

NOTE: SRTs to gain access that are required to complete the repair, that are sufficiently
explained in the claim narrative, may also be claimed on this action.
NOTE: File SRT 99-902, quantity 2, for removal of the laminar flow screen from the inlet
of the fuel control housing.
