R1234YF REFRIGERANT LEAK DETECTOR
The LD-2 Arctic Pro Leak Detector, supplied with the Mahle ACX-1299 Refrigerant Recovery
Equipment, can aid in locating R1234yf refrigerant leaks.
Refer to the User Manual supplied with the LD-2 Arctic Pro Leak
Detector for complete usage instructions.
Warm Up Mode
When Arctic Pro Leak Detector is turned on, a warm up process is
initiated. The Leak Detector continuously beep letting you know it is
in the warm up mode. The Mute button may be used to silence the
beeps.
Sensing Mode
After about 20 seconds, the Leak Detector enters the Sensing
Mode. During this time, a hum can be heard as the Leak Detector’s
pump is pulling air through the sample tube.
Pressing the “Sens” button on the leak detector adjusts the
sensitivity.
The Arctic Pro Leak Detector provides 3 sensitivity levels:
 Lo
 Norm
 Hi
 NOTICE
Some automotive chemicals containing hydrocarbons (e.g., coolants, washer fluids,
fuels, lubricants, etc.) can initiate a false refrigerant leak response from the Arctic
Pro Leak Detector. Ensure the area being sampled is clear of residue from these
chemicals.

When R1234yf refrigerant is sensed, the “Leak Size Indicator” flashes numbers 1-9.

Turn the unit’s beeps ‘On’ while checking for leaks.
Where to check for leaks:




All fittings
Hoses especially around the crimped fittings
After setting the blower to Floor Vents – check for leaks at floor vents
o The A/C condensation drain can also be checked
Compressor front seal
After the service is completed, check the service ports.
