CAMPAIGN BULLETIN SERVICE CAMPAIGN Electronic Tailgate Lock Voluntary Service Campaign Reference: PC466 Date: August 24, 2016 Attention: Dealer Principal, Sales, Service & Parts Managers Affected Models/Years: Affected Population: Dealer Inventory: SERVICE COMM Activation date: Stop Sale In Effect 18 12 August 24, 2016 NO MY2016 Titan XD ***** Campaign Summary ***** Nissan is conducting a voluntary service campaign on certain MY2016 Titan XD vehicles to install electronic tailgate locks on vehicles that should be equipped with this accessory, but were shipped without the electronic tailgate locks installed. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Service Campaign using Service Comm I.D. PC466. 2. Dealers are requested to repair any affected vehicles in dealer new or pre-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. 3. Repair the vehicle using the repair procedure in NTB16-079. 4. Once repaired, dealers should submit the claim, using the claims coding provided, and release the vehicle. ***** Release Schedule ***** Parts The part listed below is available and may be ordered via normal ordering process: o Electronic Tailgate Lock 999M2-W3005 Repair NTB16-079 Owner Notification Nissan will begin notifying owners of all potentially affected vehicles in September, 2016 via U.S. Mail. ***** Dealer Responsibility ***** It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service Comm using the appropriate Campaign I.D. for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary service campaign which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in dealer inventory. If a VIN subject to this voluntary service campaign was part of a dealer trade, the letter associated with that VIN should be forwarded to the appropriate dealer for service completion. What is the reason for this Voluntary Service Campaign? A. Certain Titan XD vehicles were intended to have electronic tailgate locks installed, but were released to dealers without the accessory installed. Q. What is the possible effect of the condition? A. Vehicle content does not match Monroney Label. Q. What will be the corrective action? A. Nissan dealers will install electronic tailgate locks on the affected vehicles identified in SERVICE COMM. Q. How long will the corrective action take? A. This service, which is conducted at no charge to customers for parts and labor, should take approximately 1 hour to complete. Q. When will vehicle owners be notified? A. Nissan will begin notifying owners in September, asking them to bring their vehicles to an authorized Nissan dealer to have the missing accessory installed. Q. Are parts readily available? A. Yes. Q. Is my vehicle safe to drive? A. Yes. Q. Will a rental vehicle be provided while the dealer is servicing the vehicle? A.
