Condition
•
Clicking and ticking noises from the engine area can be heard in the passenger compartment.
•
The noises are heard after a 3-5 minute warm-up phase at idle speed.
•
After activated charcoal filter solenoid valve N80 is unfastened from the holder, the noise is no longer present.
Technical Background
The noises are caused by activation of the solenoid valve N80 in the engine compartment and contact between
the activated charcoal filter lines. As the activation frequency of the solenoid valve changes, the noise frequency
in the vehicle interior also changes.
With the ODIS tester (using the output test), the noises can be linked with the required position of the solenoid
valve:
•
Required position of solenoid valve 0% --> No noise.
•
Required position of solenoid valve 0% - 25% --> Activation frequency becomes faster as position increases.
•
Required position TEV 25 - 0% --> Activation frequency becomes slower as position decreases.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
