Technical Service Bulletin Audi 44 Message "TPMS" in instrument cluster 44 16 61 2034445/4 June 8, 2016. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 16-60 dated March 8, 2016 for reasons listed below. Model(s) Year VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment A4, A5, A5 Cabriolet, Q5 2009- 2017 All Not Applicable Condition REVISION HISTORY Revision Date Purpose 4 - Revised header data (Added model year) 3 3/8/2016 Revised header data (Added model year) Revised entire bulletin (Completely revised) 6/26/2014 2 Revised header data (Added model year) Customer reports seeing the messages "TPMS" and "Tire pressure: System malfunction!" in the instrument cluster under the following conditions: • After the engine is started, the message "TPMS" appears briefly then turns off. • No DTCs are stored. Technical Background The "TPMS" message is not related to a loss of tire pressure. The message only indicates that the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is not active. As part of the self-check during the start of the vehicle, the tire warning display may be briefly deactivated along with the ESP. In this case, the "TPMS" message only indicates that the TPMS is not active for a short time. Because the vehicle is not moving at this time, there are no wheel revolution values available for the TPMS to read, even if it were active. After the self-test is complete, the tire warning display is available. Production Solution Not applicable. Page 1 of2 © 2016 Audi of America, Inc. All rights reserved. Technical Service Bulletin Audi Service Because this "TPMS" message is not related to a loss of tire pressure, storing tire pressure does not lead to any change. If the "TPMS" message only appears briefly after the engine is started, it can be ignored. Do not perform any repairs. In this case, the "TPMS" message only indicates that the TPMS is not active for a short time. Warranty This TSB is informational only and not applicable to any Audi warranty.
