SECTION: 206-03 Front Brake Pad Wear Warning Lead Fouls On The Road Wheel AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE: XF (X260) Model Year: 2016 VIN: Y00461-Y07677 Assembly Plant: Castle Bromwich MARKETS: NAS CONDITION SUMMARY: Situation: The Amber brake warning lamp in the instrument cluster may prematurely illuminate. Cause: This may be caused by the front brake pad wear sensor lead contacting the front left road wheel. Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction below. PARTS: T2H22239 Cable Tie Quantity: 1 T2H8399 Pad Wear Warning Lead Quantity: 1 WARRANTY: NOTE: Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Always refer to TOPIx to obtain the latest repair time. NOTE: DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero. DESCRIPTION SRO TIME (HOURS) CONDITION CODE CAUSAL PART Pad wear sensor - Front - Check and modify 70.91.58 0.10 07 T2H8399 Pad wear sensor - Front - Renew and modify 70.91.59 0.30 07 T2H8399 NOTE: Normal Warranty procedures apply. COMPONENT LOCATION 1Component location. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/616214 2/1/2016 Page 2 of 8 SERVICE INSTRUCTION: WARNING: make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands. 1Remove the front left wheel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 204-04: Wheels and Tires). 2Inspect the front brake pad wear sensor lead for any damage. • If the brake pad wear sensor lead has signs of damage, continue to step 3. • If the brake pad wear sensor lead has no damage, continue to step 13. 3Remove the front left fender splash shield (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 501-02: Front End Body Panels). 4Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor connector. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/616214 2/1/2016 Page 3 of 8 5Unclip the two grommets from the mounting brackets. 6Unclip the two grommets from the mounting brackets. 7With care remove the brake pad wear sensor lead from the brake pads. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/616214 2/1/2016 Page 4 of 8 8Install new front brake pad wear sensor lead to the brake pads. 9Push the two grommets into their mounting brackets. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/616214 2/1/2016 Page 5 of 8 10Push the two grommets into their mounting brackets. 11Connect the brake pad wear sensor connector. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/616214 2/1/2016 Page 6 of 8 12Install the front left fender splash shield (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 501-02: Front End Body Panels). 13Pass a cable tie through the existing hole in the brake caliper. 14Make sure that the brake pad wear warning wire is a straight line from the grommet to the 'V' feature. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/616214 2/1/2016 Page 7 of 8 15Make sure that the cable tie is seated on the top face and tighten the cable tie. 16Remove the excess cable tie. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/616214 2/1/2016 Page 8 of 8 17Install the front left road wheel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 204-04: Wheels and Tires). http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/616214 2/1/2016
