Subject: Bulletin No: 06-001/14 Last Issued: 03/19/2014 DTC B2278 STORED IN THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE 2008-2011 TRIBUTE - DTC B2278 STORED IN THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS 2008-2011 Tribute 2008-2010 Tribute Hybrid DESCRIPTION Some vehicles may have DTC B2278 (Steering Shaft Torque Sensor Malfunction) stored in the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM). A torque sensor service kit is available to correct the condition. Steering column replacement is no longer necessary. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Is DTC B2278 stored in the PSCM? a. Yes - Proceed to step 2. b. No - This bulletin does not apply. Refer to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 06-01 SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART — STEERING SYSTEM). 2. Replace the torque sensor. Follow the instructions provided in the torque sensor kit (P/N ZZCT-32-693). NOTE: During assembly, install 2 new upper column bolts. Tightening Torque: 21 lb-ft (28 Nm). 3. Verify repair.
