On Tuesday, December 15, 2015, Takata informed NHTSA of a defect in certain types of passenger airbag inflators used in model year 2003 and 2004 CR-V vehicles. Certain model year 2003 and 2004 CR-V vehicles sold or registered in high absolute humidity regions were already covered by regional safety improvement and safety recall actions; similarly to Accord and Civic, these vehicles will now be migrated to the national safety recall range, which already includes 2002 and some 2003 CR-V vehicles. Service bulletin 15-067 has been revised to include model year 2004 CR-V. Approximately 78,000 model year 2003 and 2004 CR-V VINs currently covered by service bulletins 14-046, Recall: Front Passenger's Airbag lnflator May Produce Excessive Pressure After Long-Term Exposure To High Absolute Humidity and 14-070, Safety Recall: Front Passenger's Airbag lnflator May Produce Excessive Pressure After Long-Term Exposure To High Absolute Humidity wi 11 be moved to bulletin 15-067. Approximately 127,000 2003 and 2004 CR-V vehicles that were not previously covered by a passenger airbag market action have also been added to the national recall range, Repair orders for 2003 and 2004 CR-V opened prior to Saturday, December 19, 2015 should use the warranty coding found in the bulletin applicable at that time. Repair orders opened on or after Saturday, December 19, 2015 should use warranty coding found in service bulletin 15-067. 2003 and 2004 CR-V vehicles repaired under bulletins 14-046 or 14-070 will also be migrated to the 15-067 range, and will reflect a complete status on VIN inquiry. These vehicles will not need further action under service bulletin 15-067. American Honda expects to notify customers of this expansion by late January 2016, pending NHTSA acknowledgement of the recall. As always, be sure to check VIN status inquiry to determine if this, or any other outstanding recall repairs may apply. American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Page 1 of 1
