@ACURA Engin eering Request for Investigation BER170108 2017 ILX & RDX Steering Wheel Noise Background American Honda (AHM) is investigating certain 2017 ILXs & RDXs with a client complaint of a creaking, rattling, buzzing, clicking or rubbing noise coming from the driver's airbag area of the steering wheel when turning or driving. It is the same complaint covered under the Service Bulletin 16-025 Steering Wheel Noise While Driving but the vehicles are outside of the affected VIN range. To fully understand the cause of this condition, AHM would like to collect specific information from the vehicle prior to you attempting a repair of any kind. Qualifiers AHM is interested ONLY if the vehicle meets the following requirements: 1. VIN must be AFTER: 5J8TB3 ... HL003353 (2017 RDX 2WD) 5J8TB4 ... HL005430 (2017 RDX AWD) 19UDE2 ... HA001454 (2017 ILX) 2. Symptoms listed in the Service Bulletin 16-025 have been verified. Click HERE to see SB 16-025. 3. No previous repair done for this complaint or any other repair on the steering wheel. 4. The leather wrap on the steering wheel is still present in the area described in the Service Bulletin 16-025 where it instructs you to trim the excess leather material.
