Any new or used units in dealer stock must be repaired per S/B 15-017, Safety Recall: Connecting Rod prior to sale. Refer to the eResponsibility report or VIN Inquiry to determine which units in your inventory are affected. Affected vehicles should not be sold until the repair has been completed. Should an unrepaired vehicle cause any injury or damage because of the required recall repair, the dealership will be solely responsible to the damaged party, and will be required to defend and indemnify American Honda for any resulting claims. Basic Problem Connecting rod bolts were not properly torqued during engine assembly due to an equipment error. As a result, there is a risk of an engine stall during vehicle operation, which may increase the risk of a crash. The Repair All affected vehicles require replacement of the short block. Service Bulletin In support of this recall, S/B 15-017 will be posted on February 27, 2015, and will include repair, parts and warranty information related to the recall. Make sure that all steps in the bulletin are followed to ensure a successful repair. Parts Information Please refer to the service bulletin for the full list of parts needed to complete this repair. Short blocks are available at this time; however, due to the number of ancillary parts that are needed to complete this repair, please be advised that some of these ancillary parts may not be currently in stock. Warranty and Repair Information Warranty and repair information will be detailed in S/B 15-017, which will be posted on February 27, 2015. Customer Notification American Honda Motor Co. expects to begin customer first-class mailing notification at the end of March 2015. However, it is American Honda's intent to proactively call customers in advance of the notification mailing. As always, please be sure to check in VIN status to determine if a particular vehicle is eligible for this recall.
