ISSUE
Some 2017 Escape vehicles equipped with 17 inch wheels built on or before 10-October-2016 may exhibit an illuminated
electric park brake warning indicator with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) C1034, C1A43, C2005, C2007, C2008 and/or
U2002. Four wheel drive (4WD) vehicles may also exhibit an anti-lock brake system (ABS) lamp illuminated with DTCs
C003A or C0037.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Is the vehicle equipped with 17 inch wheels?
a. Yes - proceed to Step 2.
b. No - this article does not apply. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-09 for normal diagnostics.
2. Connect the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or equivalent scan tool to the data link connector
(DLC). Check for DTCs. Is C1034, C1A43, C2005, C2007, C2008, U2002, C003A and/or C0037 present in the ABS
module?
a. Yes - proceed to Step 3.
b. No - this article does not apply. Refer to the WSM, Section 206-09 for normal diagnostics.
3. Inspect the rear electric park brake/brake skid control wiring harness (2C055) on both sides. Inspect the harnesses for
damage where they are routed closest to the rear wheels. Is either of the harnesses damaged?
a. Yes - proceed to Step 4.
b. No - this article does not apply. Refer to the WSM, Section 206-09 for normal diagnostics.
4. Replace the affected wiring harness assembly(s).
5. Tie strap both harnesses to gain sufficient clearance away from both rear wheels. (Figure 1)
